Responding to a Request

  • Log into PBS within 4 days after an email notification of a request is sent to you
  • Go to your My Account page.
    • The request will be on your "Requested From Me" tab
  • To accept the request, click "I can mail by" [the mailby date shown will be 5 days from the acceptance date]
    • After mailing you need to return to your account and mark the book mailed
    • You will have 2 days after the mail-by date in which to mark the book as "mailed"
    • If you don't mark the book as mailed by that deadline, the transaction will time out and cancel
  • If you cannot mail, click
    • Then type in a brief reason for the decline and confirm
    • The request will be canceled and the book will be removed from your Bookshelf
    • Once you have canceled, the request can't be reactivated (it may have been passed to another member who has the same book). If you want to offer the book for swapping again, you need to repost it.
  • PLEASE NOTE You may need to SCROLL DOWN to see all of the buttons  if there are Requestor Conditions on the request!
**If there is a white box with text on the request, these are Requestor Conditions, which the requestor has used to specify the types of books she or he is NOT willing to receive in a PBS swap.** All you need to do if there is a Requestor Conditions box is to (1) read the text and (2) decide if your book meets those extra requirements
  • If your book DOES meet the requestor's conditions, click "My book meets conditions" - the next screen will show the "I can mail" buttons on it.
  • If your book DOES NOT meet the conditions, click "Does not meet conditions" and this will keep your book active in the system while declining the request.
  • If you are NOT SURE if your book meets conditions, err on the side of caution and decline.
  • If you are unable to send the book for other reasons (you can't mail the book out at all - it has been damaged, or you Posted it incorrectly, for example), click "Cancel Order" and this will remove the book from your account.
  • You can read more about using Requestor Conditions as both a sender and requestor in How to Use Requestor Conditions.
