This seemed like it would be right up my alley, as I am a fan of humor, memoirs, and everything this book is supposed to be. It tries for hilarious and relatable, but kind of falls short and ends up being crass and shallow. There are some funny parts, but the book is not laugh-out-loud, per se. I wouldn't read it again, nor would it be on the list of comedic memoirs that I recommend to anybody.

My Review:
This is all at once and excellent, quick and outrageously hilarious read. I caught Chelsea on E! and found her to be crazy and in your face. I had to read any book she authored.
If you are looking for something that is well written, dirty and intelligent this book is great for you. At no point will you feel as if a moral is being thrust on you disguised in hilarity, this is just plain hilarity. Great for anyone looking for an upper, or a reminder that their father really isn't all that bad.
I highly recommend it!!

This is the funniest book I've ever read. I carried it around with me daily as I ran errands, and I read it nearly everwhere. People kept giving me weird looks as I couldn't help but laugh out loud while reading this book. I loved that each chapter was a story that stood alone, so I didn't have to remember where I was in the overall story. Chelsea Handler is vulgar, blunt, and hilarious. I'd recommend this book for adults college age through thirtysomething. I'm fortysomething, so if you're older and think you can handle it... GO FOR IT!

I read this book on an airplane from Atlanta, GA to Moline,IL. I bet my seatmate hated me because she was trying to sleep while I was laughing my butt off. I loved this book. Even if you are not a fan of hers, you will have a hard time keeping a straight face. With her bawdy sense of humor and her total commitment to telling on herself, Chelsea is one of the funniest comediennes in America today.

In her witty, obnoxious, sarcastic style, Chelsea Handler had me rolling with the tales of her youth. She takes all of the things we silently think about our lives and situations and says them out loud. It was terrific!
I was really hoping for something like Jen Lancaster's witty memoirs, but what I found was self-centered drivel filled with mild grammatical errors that eventually drove me mad. I read the first two stories straight through, despite the fact that it seemed to take forever to make it through a page, then gave up and skipped around trying to find something funny, trying to see what made other readers laugh. Couldn't find a thing. But hey, lots of people have it wishlisted, so I am sending it off in exchange for something, anything, better!

I love this book and all of Chelsea Handlers books! She is straightforward and SOOOO funny! This book is about her family and you will laugh at every page!

Chelsea Handler is always a good time. I laughed my way through this quick and easy read. A fun summer book!

I found the humor to be too forced, and often mean-spirited (which is not as funny to me). I thought Sloane Crosley's I Was Told There'd Be Cake was much better.

Very easy reading, read the book in about 3 hours, but I LOVED it! I was laughing out loud almost the entire book. Love Chelsea and how nothing is off limits with her.

Although I'm a huge Chelsea Handler fan, I was really disappointed with the book. I think she's hilarious and watch Chelsea Lately religiously but her humor didn't translate very well for me into her writing. Most of the stories were really drawn out and just plain boring. I hung onto it and skipped around trying to find something I liked and came up short.

Another winner from Handler, I found myself laughing hilariously while reading this book.

This was really just a waste of time. I think I only stuck it out to the end because it worked for one of the tasks a reading challenge I participate in. There were only a couple of places where I laughed out loud. A few more places made me smile. Most of the time I was grimacing, or internally saying, 'Ewwww'. Which in fact may be the result that Chelsea Handler was looking for.
There is nothing to learn from this book, and it's not really funny either -- so what's the point?

Chelsea is hilarious! I read this on a plane and it passed the time and kept me laughing to myself. Her stories are those that are too good and off the wall to be made up.

This is absolutely one of the funniest books I have ever read! I was laughing so hard I was crying!! Chelsea Handler is freakin' hilarious!!! Totally loved this book. Would love to post this book, but I definitely think I will want to read it again!!!

I enjoyed this book so much. I was not expecting anything, but from the second I picked this gem of a book up, I was hooked. I laughed so hard I cried!! I found myself calling friends and reading inserts. This is one funny lady, and she is VERY candid in this book. If you are looking for a great book that you can read in one or two days, this is your book. She tells hilarious stories of her life as she grew up. I can honestly say that the book was excellent from the first sentance to the last.

I had never heard of this author until getting this book but that sure didn't stop me! I loved her crazy humor, almost like she was doing stand up comedy straight from the pages. no holds barred LOL craziness, from midgets to her father (or bitch tits as she likes to call him) no one is safe from her tongue. Fast, easy and quite enjoyable read!

I love her humor and wit! Can't wait to read the rest of her books.

The one commenter is correct the book is void of any plot or storyline, but that's because it's suppose to be just a collection of funny stories.
I read the whole book in one sitting and never quit laughing.

Meh. An attempt at a self deprecating, David Sedaris-like look back at "my crazy life" but the crude, in-your-face energy that apparently works on her show (and, I'm sure, her standup routine) just comes across as crass here. What I love about Sedaris's early books is how he reels you in almost like a co-conspirator; this book feels like you're at a family or sorority reunion (but not your fam or sorority) listening to strangers reminisce about people you don't know & events you weren't at. For me, it really wasn't funny or worth the evening I spent reading it.

I wouldn't say this was my favorite Chelsea Handler book thus far, but it wasn't by any means horrible. I felt that the book was funnier towards the ending compared to the beginning. I was bored for a while, but thankfully it picked up. I'm hoping that Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang is better.

I was expecting to be up all night laughing as I really like Chelsea Handler, but I couldn't help but feel really skeptical about whether the things she supposedly did and said actually happened the way she recounts in the book, especially the parts about her childhood. A lot of it just seemed preposterous. The book is not classified as a 'memoir,' so I figure she probably took liberties and exaggerated and embellished her stories (a lot). I admit I did smile quite a bit reading this book, but, for me, the laughs were tempered by my doubt about whether things really happened the way she tells it. I think if you take the stories in her book with a grain of salt, you can enjoy it a lot more.
Helpful Score: 1
This is an awful book -- crass and disgusting. It was only curiosity that led me to finish reading it. I don't now if Chelsea is actually like that in real life or if it's all a comedy act. Either way I feel sorry for her! But she's laughing all the way to the bank.

I laughed out loud reading this book on a plane coming home from vacation. Chelsea is a pretty messed up human being, but boy can she tell a funny story! It was a quick easy read and each chapter is a short story, so you can easily set the book down for a few days in between chapters. Or you can do like I did and read the entire book in one (albeit long) sitting.

This book was excellent. I can't wait to read another of her books. I laughed so hard I had tears streaming down my face and I had to stop reading in order to compose myself long enough to be able to see the writing again. If you are looking for something that will make you laugh and you aren't afraid of the "politically incorrect", then this is the book for you.

I thought that this book was much funnier than "My Horizontal Life". But then again it was much shorter. I think Chelsea Handler is just more funny on TV than on paper. I'm not gonna lie the chapter about her decision to bed a redhead was hilarious!!! It's a quick, fun read perfect for killing time or some much needed giggles.

This was a funny book and each chapter stood alone but kept with the flow of the book. She has really funny stories and I am amazed that someone would actually write about all the men she remembers hooking up with. Wished the f bomb wasn't so prominent in the stories.
I think this was my favorite. I read all her books. There were many laugh out loud moments.
Good book, but very off the wall. I like her sense of humor.
So funny! I was laughing out loud!!
Chelsea Handler doesn't fail to deliver. While not being exactly laugh out loud funny, it was enough to make me chuckle a few times. I recommend this if you are a fan of hers.

A collection of wildly funny and wildly exaggerated stories taken from Chelsea Handlers life.
A book that is not easily read in public as I found myself laughing out loud constantly avoid eating and drinking while reading this book. Your book will thank you for not spewing food and beverages on it.
A quick read and definitely funny.

Could not stop laughing while I was reading this! It was so funny, and yes, there's a lot of cursing, but you expect that from her. ;) It was hilarious and makes me want to buy up all of her other books.

Well, I thought I would really enjoy this book but I didn't. Sure is was kinda funny if you think sleeping around, waking up with a bad hangover, or just being so self centered that you don't care about anyone. I didn't like the language, just kept thinking don't you have another word you can use everywhere? Just not a nice language or life style book.
Awesome book!

It was very funny.
It was pretty funny, not hysterical but definitely funny.
One of the funniest books I've read in a LONG time. Chelsea Handler is absolutely hilarious. This book is very similar to her stand up--and she has mentioned quite a few of the topics on her show, which make it obvious that she is sincere about her passions (even though she uses jokes to tell us about it). This book reads like you're talking to a girlfriend. Highly recommended for reading at the beach, which is how I read it in just a couple hours. A+!
Fun read
I love Chelsea Handler. I think she is hilarious. I really enjoyed the first book of hers I read- "My Horizontal Life". I also really enjoyed this one. It is a collection of short stories that span elementary school to her late twenties. In this one you get to hear some stories from her childhood and her crazy family.
The book kind of started off slow for me. It was apparent Chelsea had a vivid imagination from a very young age as evidenced by her "movie star" story in elementary school.
I loved her Mini-Me story when she got to hang out with a midget all day. I think her obsession with them is hilarious.
But the best story by far is the last one where she takes her dad, best friend, and best friend's mom on vacation. It is hilarious.
And I also found out the Chelsea has a thing for penguins just like I do which makes me love her even more.
I will warn you she is crass and disgusting and you could get easily offended reading this book, but for some reason I get her humor and I really enjoyed it.

Freakin' hilarious! I want to read everything she's ever written, twice!
This book is very funny. I found myself laughing out loud at some of the statements made by Chelsea. I would recommend this book even to some senior citizens (like myself) that have a 'young at heart' and spirit mind. I would not recommend this book for anyone pre-teen or young teen as it has many sextual statements and stories in the book.
This is an okay book. I had high expectations for the book and was a bit disappointed with the humor...some things were funny and some things not so funny. Easy read...
She had some funny lines in the book, but the book was void of any plot or substance.
good & funny
As much as I enjoyed this book and enjoy Chelsea Handler, this book was not as good as Horizontal Life. She was streatching with this one, and if she comes out with a 3rd, I'm not sure what she will even say. Completely funny book, but most of the things seem a little embelished for the funny factor. Made me laugh and a quick read!
So funny. Chelsea is very witty and smart with her timing. Very quick easy read. I read this in less than 24 hours.
I read this book in one sitting. Kept waking up my husband by laughing and giggling out loud. She is a hot mess! Loved it! :)

This book was okay, nothing spectacular. One of my friends suggested i read it and said it was hilarious. It's not something i would recommend someone HAS to read though. It's entertaining enough if you have nothing else to read. It's a quick read too, if it wasn't I definately wouldn't have bothered finishing it.
This book was the funniest book I've ever read! I can't believe Chelsea Handler can be sooooo funny!! I've always liked her on "Girls Behaving Badly", so decided to give one of her books a try and I'm so glad I did. If what she says is true in this book, her life is one crazy, but extremely funny life. I bet this girl is fun to hang out with! HaHa! If you want to laugh, read this book!
Great quick read!
Almost had to change my undergarments every time I picked it up! Loved the stories and nothing but a serious dose of Chelsea humor. Includes everything from midgets to pot smoking, not for those who are stiff in any way (unless it's how you order your drink.)
Terrifically funny. Not always PC.
I'm one of those people who will read a book once I've started it but I found it be a little obnoxious at times.
Handler is funny as always as she recalls stories from throughout her life that shaped who she has become today.
Excellent, easy read. If you can get past the raw nature of Chelsea Handler, you will love it.
Awesome, yet funny and ridiculous read! Definitely worth it!
I adore Chelsea as a comedian, but her book left me less than satisfied. It was a let-down, although it had its moments.
I didn't enjoy this book - it seemed to be written to shock the reader. The ridiculous situations she describes weren't amusing to me.
This is the 2nd book by Chelsea Handler that I've read. Some of her anecdotes warrant a few laughs, but overall, I just don't find her or her writting that entertaining.
I asked for a book that would make me laugh, lighthearted, etc, it was that kind of day. The clerk gave me this book. It did make me laugh--occasionally and once I realized it wasn't a "real story" it wasn't too bad. Basically, it is the stand up comic routine of Chelsea Handler and none of it is meant to be taken seriously. As a stand up routine, it probably would have me laughing. As a book, well, if you can visualize the book as comic relief, it can be enjoyable. It is comic satire and most of the time it works.
Not nearly as good as her other two books:)
I liked Chelseas first book, and I really loved this one I feel like she really hit her writing stride in this second book, you can totally see the humor youve come to love from watching her show. There were plenty of things that had me laughing out loud, it was exactly the read I was looking for.
One of the things I like about Chelsea is that she and I have several things in common, including our love of vodka. I mean, all I really needed to do was hear this title to know I would enjoy the book! Her life is more vodka filled than my own, but its always amusing to hear the kinds of trouble other people get into when theyve been drinking. And this book has a great story of why you should never drive drunk, despite the humorous situation Chelsea finds herself in.
