Help Center - How do I post my 'boxed set' of books?

Search Terms:

If each of the books bears a unique ISBN, you can Post each as a separate entity

  • this way, you will earn a credit for each.

If the "box" holding the boxed set bears an ISBN and the listing for that ISBN is for the whole set, you can post with that number, BUT

  • this way, you will earn only ONE credit for the SET.

There is not a way to post the books individually yet require one member to take all of them and award you all of the credits for the one bulk request. (The info we get from publishers does not alert the system if the ISBN represents a multi-book set.)

If you do post the books individually and want to send them all to one member:

  • You can start a topic in the Book Bazaar Discussion Forum (this is possible for those enrolled in Annual Membership only - A la Carte members are not able to post in forums) to advise members that you have a boxed set.
    • Another member may be glad to learn of this and request all of the books from you using the bulk request "order more books from this member" feature.
  • You can also post one of the books, and then send a message to the requestor (using the PM button on the request) asking if s/he wants the whole set and if so, you will mail them together for a "credit discount"  (say, 1 or 2 credits less than the total number of books). That way , you save money on postage (compared to mailing them separately), and the other member gets a set with a slight credit discount.
    • Please note that this is the only case in which a sender may decline to mail a book s/he has offered using the grounds that s/he wants to mail multiple books in the shipment. Keeping a set together is a reasonable pretext for declining to send individual book shipments.

If you have already Posted a boxed set thinking you would get 1 credit for each book:

  • If there are 3 or more in the set you can contact the requestor and explain your error - that you did not understand that you would not be getting 1 credit per book
  • You can ask the requestor to give you extra credits directly - you can compromise on the number.  For example - you could ask for a total of 2 or 3 credits (1 from the system, the others gifted by the requestor) for a 3 or 4 book set, and for anything over 4 books, you could ask for a total of 2 books per credit.
  • Since members save postage sending multiple books at once, getting 1 credit for every 2 books in the set will still be a good deal.
  • Requestors can give credits directly following the instructions in How do I give credits to other members?
