If you need to refund a credit from a swap for a book you have sent, you can click the button on the completed transaction for the book in your Transaction Archive.

• Click Transaction Archive linked from My Account to go to that list
• Locate the transaction for a book you sent
• Click Request Details link on the right side of the transaction
• Click
  • The credit value for the swap (1 credit for a bound book, 2 for an audiobook) plus the swap fee/Free Swap used will be refunded to the requestor.
  • The button will disappear from the transaction.

If you would like to give credits to another member (not refund credits from a transaction), you can do this using the  button at the top of the member's bookshelf or profile.

You can get to the member's Bookshelf or Profile by:

• clicking on his or her highlighted name in a Personal Message
• clicking on the PM button on an active transaction, then clicking the highlighted name in the PM To: field
• clicking on his or her name on the right side of a past transaction in your Transaction Archive
• clicking on his or her Nickname on his or her Forum Post
• clicking on the Books button on his or her Forum post
• PLEASE NOTE It is not wise to try to search the Member Directory to find the member! Many members share common first names and last initials, and not all members have profiles (which is necessary to appear in the Directory).

• Also note: there is a limit of 50 credits/month for credit transfers between members. (This limit does NOT apply to Friends of PBS or other donations, credit transfers to or from Games Moderators, or credits given using the Give Refund button.) 

• If the member is on your Friends page, you can also give credits from there.   (see below)

In order to give credits to other members directly --without using the Give Refund button-- you must first have received at least 2 books from PBS.  Once you have received two or more books, the option will be available for you. Please note: there is a limit of 50 credits/month for credit transfers between members. (This limit does NOT apply to Friends of PBS or other donations, credit transfers to or from Games Moderators, or credits given using the Give Refund button.) 

To add a member to your Friends

• you need to click on her profile or bookshelf
• The member will need to accept your invitation to be Friends (she or he will get an email invitation with a link in it to do this)
  • The Accept Invitation step is skipped if a member has chosen "Auto-accept all Friends invitations" in his or her Privacy Controls in the Account Settings.

To find a member's Profile or Bookshelf to add him/her to your Friends:

• Click her name in the To: or From: field of a Personal Message
• Click her highlighted nickname in a Forum post
• Click her button on a Forum post if she does not have a nickname
• Click her highlighted name on any swap you have shared.
  • If the swap is active, you can click the PM button and then click her name in the To: field of the PM
  • If the swap is past (canceled, completed, lost or a Problem transaction) you will find it in your Transaction Archive.
    • Get to your Transaction Archive by clicking the link in the yellow bar at the top of your My Account page OR
    • Place your cursor over My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site, and choose "Transaction Archive" from the menu that drops down.

NOTE It is not a wise idea to try to refund or give credits by looking for the member in the Member Directory! Go to the transaction in your Transaction Archive to refund - OR - Go to the member's profile or Bookshelf to give credits.

• Not all members appear in the Member Directory (only those with PBS Profiles who have not opted out of being listed will appear there), and many first names and last initials are the same in the club
  • If you give credits to the wrong "Mary Q."  you will give credits to the wrong person! 
• If you know the member's PBS Nickname, you can search the Member Directory for that.
  • Since PBS Nicknames are unique, if you are sure of the Nickname, you will be finding the correct member.
• If you do not know the member's PBS Nickname, you should NOT search the Member Directory for the purpose of giving credits.

To give credits to a Friend:

• Go to your Friends:

  • Place your cursor over My Account in the toolbar at the top of the site, and choose Friends from the menu that drops down OR 
  • Click Friends tab in My Account
• Click next to the Friend's name
• Choose the number of credits to give
• Click
  • If you need to cancel this action, click instead
• An email will be sent to both giver and receiver specifying the number of credits given, who gave them, and to whom they were given.

If you want to give credits to a non-member, you can buy a Gift Certificate for Book Credits in the Kiosk. 

• The recipient can then create an account (each account must be created by the user himself or herself) and redeem the Gift Certificate in the process
