A wonderful character study and "mystery-in-the-past" type story. Not so much a "who-dunnit" as a "who-IS-she, really?" Suspenseful and intriguing up to the very last line.

Although the ISBN on this listed the book at a hardcover edition, it is a paperback. It is a looooooong story...over 1100 pages. If you have the time and patience to read about a handful of women who start a literary club in 1868 and follow them and their families through 1932, this is the book for you. It is well-written with much period detail and very likeable characters.

This book was somewhat disappointing. The premise of somebody getting and getting involved with letters written to Sherlock Holmes in modern times promised much more than this series has delivered so far. The characters just didn't have the spark I was hoping for.

Looking for a good mystery with a bit of humor and a lot of history? This one is set in WWII England and Europe, and has General Eisenhower as one of the characters. A good story that keeps you guessing to the very end. Well-drawn characters, charming protaganist.

When I began reading this book, my first thought was that it would be a ho-hum little (yawn!) story with a mousy little heroine. All of a sudden, WHAM, the REAL Edna Heathcott surfaces, and the book takes off! A delightful characterization (in Edna) and a fine, believable, twisty ending. Definitely NOT ho-hum!

Impoverished Philadelphia aristocrat Nora Blackbird, her two wacky sisters, a collection of odd-ball friends, and the handsome mysterious son of a Mafia don all embark on a wonderful series of adventures in solving murder cases. Nora does this in great style, having inherited all the haute couture clothing of her grandmother. Great fun, and VERY romantic!

The sequel to "Mr. Darcy Takes a Wife", this hot-blooded romance continues the tale of Pemberly's most famous inhabitants, their family, friends and enemies. With great imagination and not a small amount of steamy detail, Linda Berdoll finishes the story we all wished would never end, and tells us what happened to everyone! A thoroughly enjoyable book!

A good, solid, 6.5 on a scale of 1 to 10 in the mystery department, but full of interesting characters. Has the cozy atmosphere of a knitting shop, and a lot of atmosphere of the southeastern Massachusetts locale which makes up the setting. There is, of course, just that little spice of romance, too! She finishs up with a couple of simple, but good, knitting patterns...excellent for beginners.
