Sorry--I was hoping to write a glowing report of this cookbook since I am enamored of the new WW program, but unfortunately, we have found next to nothing in the entire 304 pages that we could not find elsewhere in an easier, tastier and equally low cal/point version. My family has mixed tastes in nearly everything and yet none of us could identify a dish in here that we could not live without. Its only advantage that we could see is that the points are calculated on each recipe for all 3 WW color programs. What I, as the main cook, found particularly irritating is that recipes are divided by season of the year (wha??) rather than the meal-planning-friendly categories of meats, vegetable, fruits, breads, and desserts. When I want to find only one dish (like what do you do to cauliflower?), I have to search throughout out the entire book to find something. Start again WW, and give us some easily identifiable family-friendly recipes.

A wonderful classic story beautifully retold in easy English and illustrated in full color. Rated as "Stage 1" in Longman Classics Readers. Has nineteen short (2-3 pages) chapters with a "study guide" and questions in the back along with a vocabulary list with definition for words like groom, gallop, and carriage. Perfect for home-schoolers in K-early elementary grades.

A delightful table-top set of vintage punch-out-and-fold-to-stand paper dolls (animals, manger, angels, wisemen, etc.) to re-create the Christmas miracle. Includes packets (stable) for storing all figures. Nothing hard to cut or paste, just fold; by the artist who did Curious George, with text from Matthew and Luke. Colorful first Christmas experience for young ones.

This is a fascinating hardbound "book"--every page is a complete 24-piece puzzle. There are 5 puzzles: hot-air balloons, the Concorde, Tomcat fighters, crop dusters, and Pipers. Short child-friendly write-ups on jumbo jets, control towers, Icarus, gliders, sea planes, and the Wright brothers are included. A great gift for some youngster ages 5-10, or flight fans of any age.

Game Change: Obama and the Clintons, McCain and Palin, and the Race of a Lifetime
Review Date: 5/30/2012

Wow--gossipy, juicy, couldn't put it down. Fascinating insights (even if they've been exaggerated) into just how deranged you have to be to run for (high?) public office. Even if you weren't that way when you started, the race pressures and the people who surround you will make you crazy. And we vote for these people?????

Tiny, sweet little book, wonderfully illustrated, as are all of Mary's books. The sayings are not too syrupy and several are worth seeing more than once, good since most of these are repeats of selections from other collections of hers. Bought a second copy to give to my best friend for her/their anniversary. Good also as a wedding present--has an inscription frontspiece to write your sentiment.

In one book, JR gives us new and old, easy and difficult, and a huge variety of patterns, designs, and themes in between. She labels each set of individual instructions "average complexity", "time-consuming", "quick and easy", "kid-friendly", "challenging", etc. , all of which I found accurate. She includes computer-aided and recycled materials as well as feminine, masculine, and ideas for multiple cards. It really is A to Z--each card technique includes a materials list, bulleted instructions , a clear and good-sized picture(s) and sometimes even personal notes from her experience that increase the reader's ability to copy and/or adapt the design to your needs. And, best of all for my 50-plus (don't ask) eyes, all the print is easy to read! These 74 (!) projects will keep me busy for months. Wish I had bought this instead of several other books in my card-making books collection--I could have stopped here and saved myself a lot of money.

This is a lovely little (5 x 8) hardback book simply entitled "Guests", intended to be used as a hand-written record by guests of their visits to your home or some occasion, like an anniversary party. The ISBN number in the inside is 1-561556-52-1. The cover and interior are decorated with differing shades of blue, depicting leaves, flowers, pineapples, moons, etc. Charming to put on a coffee table to remember fun times with friends.

Not for the faint of heart. Contained characters, none of which I enjoyed getting to know, including, unfortunately, Cody Hoyt. Torture (or planned torture) scenes of a sexual nature were particularly disturbing, and I found the topic overwhelmed any appeal of the plot. Also, Box included derogatory political references (I'll let you read it to find out what side of the aisle he comes down on) that were extraneous to the story, but undoubtedly gave him satisfaction to put into print. I would compare this novel to those under Patterson's name, but not written by Patterson. I kind of wondered who Box gave this to in order to write it--so far afield from the beloved Joe Pickett series. A disappointment.

Wonderful beginners' counting book--a cut-out board book with a sweet poem for every animal (on horse, two cows, etc.) illustrated in color on each page in the book. Each page also has a domino with the appropriate number of dots on it next to the number. Perfect for little fingers to "turn the page". And say the sound--M-o-o-o-o!

A must-have for card makers. Offers a very wide range of embellishment images, suitable for use in scrapbooks or cards, for males and females. Themes have 2 or 3 matching (different) size or shape pieces, for use in layering or matching an envelope to the theme. Colors are beautiful muted tones of the entire color wheel. Only drawback: must be hand cut because they are not die-punched. Heavy paper makes them easy to adhere to plain cardboard or chipboard for added depth or 3-D effects. A few seasonal images, most are timeless (not tied to holiday).

What a wonderful book! I follow the UNC Tar Heels basketball team, so I was fascinated to learn more about the actual world of players, their training, their careers, and how schools and the NBA work together. (Grisham admits his aspiration in sports in his book's intro, which is something I would not have imagined, given his history of books about the law, and this is what drew him to this story.) But this is not what the book is about. Sooley is indeed one of the African teen-agers recruited to play college basketball in the US, but his back story is the focus of the book. It was so real and so current that I actually checked with google to see if Samuel was a real person. It is fictional. But the tragedy of his family in the genocide of the south sudan is a tragedy and is what, after all, motivates Samuel (Sooley) to succeed in America. I won't spoil the ending but you must read to the finish if you start this book. It is a treasure for the sports-minded and the sports newbie alike. I fell in love with Sooley and you will too.

Bo-ring. A re-hash of events and pop psychology analyses of personalities, all of which have been covered in more depth and with more thought by earlier authors. A disappointment--Chuck should have stuck with his day job . . .
