Not my favorite of the series, but still a fun read. I have to admit it, but I am a wee bit disappointed that Dex only got to kill one person.

I am addicted to this series! A good combination of supernatural and "Film Noir." A kind of Raymond Chandler meets Cliver Barker. Harry Dresden is a Philip Marlowe of the Nevernever.

Kim Harrison does not disappoint with this, the 5th installment of her Rachel Morgan series. More demons, more action, more trouble with Trent, and this time, a few shed tears. Inlcudes bonus short story at the end as well.

This is one of my all-time favorite books. I love this book. The characters are so intriguing. Yes, it's a bit twisted, even perhaps "sick" but if you appreciate good writing, amazing storytelling, original characters, and best of all, carnies (who doesn't right??) then this is the book for you. Now, if only Tim Burton would make the movie of it like he was once rumored to be doing.

Superb! An excellent "ghost story". Unpredictable, well-developed, good to see a more balanced fight between good and evil.

Written with a lot of heart. I was hoping for a little more supernatural elements, but since this is technically about a woman who actually existed I suppose it can't be too supernatural.

A little bit of a slow start, but once the end came around I was hooked! Some cliches, but if you know that going in it might not be so bad.

I used to really like the Stephanie Plum series, but I found them becoming too predictable. This series is a nice change. I like the fact that the protagonist is smart, good with mechanical things, and isn't always a bumbling idiot. Sure, I can probably relate to Stephanie more on a personal level, but I don't mind reading about someone who is quite my polar opposite. Lots of fun to read!

This book is part of a sort of trilogy that includes Bless Me Ultima and Heart of Aztlan. In this novel, the protagonist is in a hospital recovering from a broken back. It's quite introspective and very different that Bless Me. I enjoyed reading it and would recommend it to anyone who enjoyed Bless Me.

I have to confess that I made it to the last ten pages of this book and simply gave up. It started out pretty good, but then it went down hill from there. It lacked continuity and it was often all over the place. I kept getting confused because there would be so much going on, but at the same time, nothing at all.

At times, darkly disturbing, at others, very introspective---above all, this is a well-written book. It's a shame that more women have not heard of Alma Luz Villanueve. She is a powerful, moving, abrasive, magical writer.

Not your typical werewolf tale. Straightforward, well told, not a lot of description, more realistic (if that's fair to say for a book of this type.) I particularly liked the way Alice felt isolated and how matter-of-fact she was about her "condition."
