Fool Moon (Dresden Files, Bk 2)
Fool Moon - Dresden Files, Bk 2
Author: Jim Butcher
Business has been slow. Okay, business has been dead. And not even of the undead variety. You would think Chicago would have a little more action for the only professional wizard in the phone book. But lately, Harry Dresden hasn't been able to dredge up any kind of work -- magical or mundane. — But just when it looks like he can't afford ...  more »

Excellent!! I enjoyed this one even more than the first one in the series. Harry Dresden and werewolves, what more could you ask for.

Non stop action and lots of excitement. We learn a little more about Harry and see more interaction between him and Murphy. Looking forward to reading more!

As a fantasy fan for over 50 years, I have to recommend ALL the books in this series. But, be sure to read them in order or you will not understand all that is going on. Truly the VERY BEST fantasy series I have ever read!

I really liked this book, even better than the first one. I think Harry's character is endearing to both men and women alike so I just recently started my husband on this series with Storm Front since I believe he prefers a male lead. That said, many male leads are often indifferent or unemotional like so many men are, but Harry allows you to see his softer side at times too, beneath his tough outside exterior. Because every good guy has a good heart. :)

This book centers around werewolves and their various forms, and as Harry enters into a battle with the supernatural creatures, all the aspects of his personna are stretched and put to the test, including again, his friendship with Murphy, which still hadn't fully recovered from the last episode. Susan is back and Harry looks deeper at his feelings for her, especially when their lives are threatened and they're clinging to each other on what might be their last night alive.

Fun, fun series - Sam Spade meets Harry Potter vs. the FBI. This book shapes up better than the first in terms of character development and is long on action as well with a variety of types of werewolves, lycanthropes, etc. ripping through the landscape.

I am addicted to this series! A good combination of supernatural and "Film Noir." A kind of Raymond Chandler meets Cliver Barker. Harry Dresden is a Philip Marlowe of the Nevernever.

I was pleasantly surprised with this book since I hated the first book in the series. I read a short story about Harry Dresden and liked it a lot so i thought I'd give this series another try. I'm glad I did, though I hardly need another series to read.

Wizard Harry Dresden is the strongest (and possibly the only) wizard in the Chicago area. He consults for the special investigations division of the police department. Detective Karrin Murphy is the only one who believes that Harry is a wizard and that he can help with the unusual crimes she investigates. In this installment, brutally vicious murders have taken place around the full moon and Harry is called in to consult. He immediately thinks werewolf and when the FBI takes over and kicks both Karrin and Harry out of the investigation, Harry can't sit back and let them do their job. He has to stay involved because he knows more than they do. Well in most wizardly things he probably does, but they have a few tricks up their sleeves too.

A very interesting story with quite a few twists and turns that will surprise most readers. I surely didn't see it coming and enjoyed the non-conventional twists. I guess I must add Harry Dresden to my series reads.

This is Book 2 of the Dresden Files.

While I did not dislike the first book, I wasn't that impressed. This book, however, was great. The things that bothered me about the first book were not present in this one. It was a fun read with a good mystery, lots of suspects, constant action, an interesting plot, and much better character development.

Now that I've gotten used to the writing style and have a better feel of the characters, I can definitely say that I am hooked on this series. The more I learn about Harry, the more I like him. In this book he's up to his eyeballs in werewolves and the mystery behind them will leave you hanging until the very end.

If you already couldn't tell from the title, just about every kind of werewolf imaginable comes to light in this book - which starts out with both Harry and Murphy still sullen about the happenings last Spring. (Evil mage and the Three-Eye drug, etc., etc., etc.) Murphy comes around and involves Harry (again) when there is a murder in "his field."

The 'victim' is one of Marcone's men, which will in turn involve Marcone, his business partner(s), and business adversaries as well. Since we are talking about a mob bosses' business we might as well add street gangs, plenty of innocent blood shed, and the thought of 'power gone wild.' Additionally, this wasn't the first killing of this type in various jurisdictions, so the FBI is involved. (Cult activity, gang killings made to look like cult activity...perhaps something reminiscent of the X-Files.)

Along the way, one of Harry's "associates" is killed - which makes Murphy believe Harry has been lying to her and she tries to arrest him. This leads to the revelation of another type of being and/or wolf. It will unfortunately involve Susan and another revelation that Murphy and Harry are essentially the same type of person on different plateaus.

There will be some predictable parts...in my opinion more towards the end. The author is a guy, so it shouldn't be shocking that three out of five or so females will end up topless. (Don't get me wrong...it isn't like Game of Thrones where just about every female is raped, beaten, or subjectd to some kind of humilation. Just something in the back of the mind since another person's review of Jim Butcher was screaming misogyny like an Amazonian war cry.)

Nonetheless, three out of five stars because it was above all entertaining. Good character development because with each book you get a bigger glimpse of Harry and this time even Murphy. Hooray for the creative juices that created several different types of werewolves instead of making them a flat one note sort of thing too!

I really enjoyed this book.
A little bit of it all in here, including a very tasteful sex scene. I'm also coming to enjoy the neat little wrap ups at the very end. Letting you know what happened to everyone after the big climax. I think this series is very well written.

This is book two in the Harry Dresden series. Harry is still working with Lt. Karrin Murphy over the fact that he had hidden some facts from her on the last case that they worked together on. He was also still dating Susan, the reporter for the Arcane tabloid. All of a sudden, some murders start up, and Murphy needs his help.

What Harry and Murphy discover is that the murders seem to be werewolf murders. But what kind of werewolves? The next victim is one that Harry knew, and Murphy thinks that he's hiding something, so, she arrests him. With the help of a woman he thought to be a suspect, Harry escapes, and hopes to find out who's murdering people before things can get worse. Will Harry find the murderer before too many more people die?

This book was great. I liked it a lot more than the first book, and I will definitely keep reading this series. I love the character of Harry Dresden. He's smart, witty, and less than charming, which is perfect for the type of "hero" I like to read about. His sidekick Bob, the spirit in the skull is also great, although we didn't get to see much of him in this book.

I'd like to see where Mr. Butcher is taking things with this series, and I look forward to reading the next book in the series!

Harry is back! Werewolves are at the top of the list as suspects in several murders. Interesting descriptions of the types of werewolves. Harry must be part cat because he should in theory lose several lives during this caper. 4 stars

Slightly better than the first one, the second in the Dresden Files series has Harry up against a bunch of werewolves and the local Mafia boss. Much more action, with a better mystery and tighter magic. Although I found the character of his cop friend Murphy much more irritating in this one, the ending mollified me and makes me believe she might have some redeeming qualities after all. This series is moving along nicely.

This is a very fast action book. It held my attention and I read it quickly. I liked Harry better in this book than the last. I think you start to get to know i him a little better than the last book. Definately recommend the series!
