If you know "Jack Reacher" from the excellent Lee Child series of novels, you'll know everything you need to know about John Puller, the hero in this novel. He has the same courage, experience, and military training. You are seamlessly taken into his world, as he tries to put together the puzzle pieces and solve the murders that have taken place. This book was every bit as good as the Reacher series, and I couldn't put it down from page one. Bravo Baldacci! I can only hope that this is the first in a series of John Puller novels.

Very suspenseful and well-written. Perfect Baldacci style. Great insight into the main characters. It grabbed me on the first page and kept me turning them to see what happened next.

Good read. I rushed to get to the ending which was way out of sync with the early story line and provides a good surprise. I enjoyed it greatly

I thought this was quite good. The ending was not predictable and it had enough twists and turns to keep you reading, which I did in two days! Can't wait to read the next John Puller novel.

I enjoyed this book. Kind of slow to start, but then a page-turner.

I've read many of Baldacci's efforts over a couple of decades and have a high opinion of his work. But frankly this one turned out to be less than his best. Not awful, certainly, but not up to the same high level I've always expected. I still remain a loyal fan.

Baldacci does it again. Another book I put on my favorite list. John Puller, a veteran, combat fighter, now CID investigator is called to a horrific murder of an entire family in West Virginia coal country. I didn't want the book to end, but couldn't put it down.

Enjoy the introduction of John Puller. I read "Escape," so wanted to go back to the first books with him.

I read book 2 first so went back and got book 1---book 1 is just too long, has a lot of repeat in it and a lot of chapters and by page 300 nothing has been moved forward very much so it was just too long and drawn out and got to be on the boring side

I have read many of David Baldacci's books. This one is the first of a new series for him. I enjoyed it as I have his other series and look forward to the other books in this series. Baldacci goes into quite details about nuclear weapons and how they are made. It becomes quite technical and I wonder if it's truth or fiction. Seems like it could give bomb makers ideas on how to make bombs to be used against us.
