This was the first book of Delinsky's that I'd read. It centered around a strong, intelligent woman and I really enjoyed it. I'll be reading more of her books for sure.

I am never disappointed by a Barbara Delinsky & I wasn't this time, either. In a word - fabulous! Delinsky always brings additional depth to her stories with her rich, authentic settings, background information & wonderful, "real" characters. Not only does this one get my recommendation, but also my Mom's & my best friend's.

I just discovered Barbara Delinsky and this was her second book that I read. While the plot of both books are a bit predictable, her writing is so good that I was drawn in almost immediately. I could actually feel what the main character was feeling. Great read.

Barbara Delinsky captures the North East so well, you can almost smell the sea air. I enjoyed this book, the premise makes you think about how you would change your life, and what sort of person you want to be, which i found very interesting. The characters were interesting as was the story.

Frist book I have read by this author, but definitely won't be the last. What?! A guy can't enjoy this type of book? LOL This was definitely a book that spoke to the heart. One in which the main character, Julia, begins to find herself and what her true value is, after surviving a tragic accident. Throw in a domineering husband, a family feud that has been smoldering for a couple of decades, Noah, a lobsterman who has been floundering since his divorce in search of what, he doesn't know. Put all this in settings from New York to Big Sawyer Island and you have a wondering story that will speak to your soul. It has a lot of flavor of the northeast with an eclectic group of people thrown in. Definately recommend this book!

I really got involved in this story. Unlike some romance novels that are so simple and predictable, this story really had suspense and kept me involved in the story. I enjoyed the fact that I actually learned something new while reading it too. I learned about lobstering and angora rabbits! Good read--I highly recommend it.

A cozy story of the lobstermen of Big Sawyer island, their work and their problems with weather and other encroachers. Noah, a divorced lobsterman, and Julia, a New York visitor to the island, are rescued from a boat accident when a boater runs into their ferry to the island. While she helps her aunt Zoe with Zoe's angora rabbits, Julia realized their past is entwined, and the island becomes her place of refuge from her wandering husband. A wonderful love story and great info about a lobsterman's life as well as powerful drama about raising a son and daughter in a broken family and livng through tragedy.

From Booklist
Ever prolific and popular Delinsky has often considered the phenomena of near-death experiences granting second chances in life, but rather than rely on hackneyed notions of heroes rising Phoenix-like from the ashes to triumph over adversity, Delinsky grounds her characters in the here-and-now and presents them with dilemmas more familiar than fanciful. Such is the case in her latest work, a tale of three people quite literally thrown together following a boating accident off the Maine coast that spares them while taking the lives of nine others. At 40 Julia is an obedient wife, dutiful daughter, and devoted mother, and has planned a visit to her aunt Zoe to reflect on her obligation to herself versus her ties to her family. Rescued by fellow passenger Noah Prine, Julia feels connected to him by virtue of their shared tragedy while also being drawn to Kim Colella, the other survivor, whose whereabouts at the time of the crash provide a shadowy subplot. As a gentle romance blossoms between Julia and Noah, each evaluates who they were before the accident and who they hope to become in its aftermath. Once again, Delinsky excels at combining a compelling mystery with an insightful portrayal of captivating people facing challenges both ordinary and dramatic. Carol Haggas

This would be a good "beach read" or even a "snuggle down by a winter's fire" read. It has all the elements for a journey beyond the immediate; Maine, lobster fishermen, questions about family history and of course, romance. Good writing and a good additon to a book bag.
