This book was really slow at the beginning and I couldn't get involved till about page 95. Then it really picked up and I enjoyed it. Starts slow and gets better and better until the ending. All about antiques, Savannah, GA, and the people of this town.

What a fun book! Weezie is a "picker" - she haunts garage sales, estate sales and dumpsters looking for antiques and treasures. She is living in a carriage house in the historic district of Savannah. Her ex-husband got custody of their refurbished townhome across the yard. He and his fiance are living there making her life miserable. When Weezie discovers the fiance's body at an estate sale stakeout, she is a prime suspect....

The characters are wonderful, the plot moves quickly, and the ending was very satisfying. I highly recommend this!

LOVED IT! A friend recommended Mary Kay Andrews to me; this is the first one of her books that I've read, and it was a delight. Light, humorous, fast read. Great escape for lunch hour or after work. I didn't want the story to end, I was having so much fun spending time with both Weezie and BeBe. Fortunately, the story doesn't have to end with Savannah Blues. I already have 'Savannah Breeze' which continues with BeBe's story. You'll want to order both books, so you can start on 'Savannah Breeze' as soon as you finish 'Svannah Blues'!

I picked this book up because it met one of the requirements for a reading challenge. I thought it was a mystery but it was really chick lit with a mystery back story.

Eloise Foley is divorced and living in the carriage house behind the main house that her ex-husband and his fiancee are living in. Yeah a weird situation. Eloise is a junk dealer (antiquer) and spends her time roaming from estate sale to estate sale collecting/finding junk and cleaning it up and reselling it. At one such sale, she finds a dead body and is accused of murder. At this point, you would think the book would center around this little tidbit but no it continues with Eloise and her junk finding missions. Solving the murder is a serious back story. There is barely mention of police involvement. In an effort to clear Eloise of murder, her uncle, a lawyer, actually works on finding the murderer.

A really good page turner. Not my kind of thing at all (I hate garage sales and picking through other peoples junk) but I enjoyed this book very much

I really truly enjoyed this book because Weezie is such a fun, fiesty charachter. From the moment I started reading I loved how she actually said the things to Caroline (her ex-husband's new fiancee) that someone might really want to say but not actually do it. I loved her funky clothes and the antiquing details were a great bonus. The only reason why I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is that there were a lot of borderline Catholic references and I kept waiting to be offended. Fortunately, I don't think it ever went past irreverant. At least the gay priest was a retired gay priest, right? All the charachters were lovable.

Loved it! Although it took a long time to get to the point in many instances, I still couldn't put it down.
The combination of deep south, antiquing, murder, and romance is irresistible to me. Mary Kay Andrews was introduced to me by my best friend who is never wrong. This is my third reading of one of this author's books and I'm hooked. Weezie, the main character, is at times nutty, annoying, ornery, and loveable. I liked her, as well as I liked her best friend, Bebe. They make a great "terrible twosome." Good chick lit!

This series is so cute. I really have enjoyed reading this book. It is quirky, but I love the characters. Great book to read by the pool or at the beach.

Landing a catch like Talmadge Evans III got Eloise "Weezie" Foley a jewel of a town house in Savannahs historic district. Divorcing Tat got her exited to the backyard carriage house, where she has launched a spite-fest with Tal's new fiancée, the elegant Caroline DeSantos.

An antiques picker, Weezie combs Savannah's steamy back alleys and garage sales for treasures when she's not dealing with her loopy relatives or her hunky ex-boyfriend. But an unauthorized sneak preview at a sale lands Weezie smack in the middle of magnolia-scented murder, mayhem . . . and more. Dirty deals simmer all around her -- just as her relationship with the hottest chef in town heats up and she finds out how delicious love can be the second time around.

Savannah Blues is the story of "Weezie", a woman coming to terms with the sudden changes in her life and of the charming Southern city, Savannah, Georgia. Weezie has lived in Savannah her whole life and is thinking about leaving owing to a nasty divorce from her cheating husband. Weezie is a "picker," someone who searches through garbage, estate sales, etc., to find discarded items to resell to antiques dealers. When she discovers a dead body while trying to sneak into an estate sale early, things get problematical.

A quick read. Eloise Foley married "up" but when her husband cheats on her, she quickly moves back down in her station in life. The only thing she gets from the divorce is the carriage house behind the main house, where her ex now resides with his girlfriend. When the girlfriend is found murdered, suspicion falls upon Weezie. She doesn't need another complication, like her old flame Danny Stipanek, re-entering her life. Between her pill-popping, Four Roses drinkin' Mama, her best friend Bebe (pronounced Bay-Bay), her ex-flame, her ex-husband, and her job as a picker, her life becomes one huge un-manageable mess! Of course it all gets resolved in the end.

Eloise "Weezie" Foley is an antique picker who combs Savannah's steamy back alley looking for treasures. When she divorces her husband and moves in the property's carriage house, she launches a spite-fest with her ex's new fiancee. During a special auction for some local old Savannah antiques, the ex's new fiancee is found dead by Weezie who has snuck into the house to use the bathroom. Lots of humor with a loopy family and a hunky ex-boyfriend who's back in the picture. Good book written in the style of Janet Evanovich's Stephanie Plum books.

This is an Edgar award nominee, which is well deserved. The story is long, interesting, features well developed characters with interesting lives and conflicts, does not stretch my willing suspension of disbelief beyond its limits, is nicely paced to keep me turning pages rapidly, and doesn't beat me over the head with endless details about antiques. There's just enough info on antiques to be interesting and bearable.

I liked the story. I like Weezie Foley and her friends and acquaintances. I want to read more. (Is Savannah really like that?)

Eloise "Weezie" Foley, an antiques picker, didn't get to pick the house that she wanted when she and Talmadge Evans III divorced. Instead, she got the carriage house behind the big house. The big house just happens to be the home of Talmadge AND his new girlfriend!

Knew I was gonna love this book when she was drinking from a Fireking Jadite cup and going through dumpsters and curbshopping! LOL

Then, when they introduced an old flame, Daniel Stipanek, who is not only a hunk now, but a great chef, I knew it was gonna be a great read!

Think you'll enjoy it if you like southern humor, sarcasm, a little romance and a little historical interest!

This delightfully breezy, richly atmospheric debut by a former journalist who covered Savannah's infamous Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil murder trials fails to generate much suspense, but it derives its charm from an encyclopedic trove of lore about antiquities and dishy gossip, Southern style. Divorced from blue-blood architect Talmadge Evans III, but still living in a carriage house in the backyard of their restored mansion, Eloise "Weezie" Foley suffers the indignity of having her ex's sexy fiance, Caroline DeSantos, living in the main house Weezie restored herself. As a "picker," Weezie earns her living foraging for discarded treasures in Dumpsters and at estate sales. When she discovers Caroline's corpse in a historic manor house, Weezie is the prime suspect in her murder. To compound her quandary, Weezie's attorney her closeted Uncle James, an ex-Catholic priest is having an illicit affair with a man from the DA's office. Factor in her on-again, off-again romance with old high school flame Daniel Stipanek, counterfeit antiques and her mom's alcoholism, and the plucky heroine has enough problems to drive at least three novels. Unfortunately, the suspense gets lost somewhere among the antiques and Weezie's attempts to consummate her romance with Daniel
