The third novel in the McKettrick's Men series. This is Keegan's story. He's another rugged guy that discovers being married to your job doesn't buy happiness. And, the gal he hated at the beginning of the book becomes the gal that he loves. He learns that things aren't always what they appear to be. Along with McKettrick's Luck and Pride, it makes for a great trilogy from this author.

The final book in the modern McKettrick Men trilogy was gripping; I laughed, I cried, and I rooted for him. While all the books in this series are worth reading, this one left me feeling emotionally drained. All of the upheaval in Keegan's life - fighting for custody of his daughter, the McKettrickCo possibly going public, and a good friend dying - seem to be impossible barriers to a happy ending. But with the help of a strong and supportive family and a new woman, he comes to terms with his past, and can look towards a brighter future. Definitely worth reading, and a keeper.

This is going to be an odd review because there were so many things I enjoyed about this book but there were things that really bothered me.
I loved that the book was kind of a tearjerking. The situations were very touch: Keegan having to redefine himself facing so many losts in his life, Molly facing the woman and infant son she unwittingly betrayed, Psyche who married a poor excuse for a husband but having a beautiful child as a result only to lose her fight to cancer 18 months later, and poor little Devon who knows her mother only sees her as a cash cow. I basically cried throughout the whole book and loved it.
Things I have a hard time with was the relationship between Molly and Keegan. They were so good together yet the way they got together was so contrived. Even their "Oh, I love you" moment was done poorly. And I have to feel bad for Keegan because the two major relationships in his life were with women who were so manipulative. No wonder he is so closed off. I came to actually hate Psyche for what she put Keegan and Molly through. As cruel as it sounds, I find myself glad that she was dying of cancer and wont' be raising Lucas.
Regardless of the things I disliked about the story, I still couldn't put the book down.

The third in the McKetttricks series. Keegan McKettrick has a distrust of women with the exception of his daughter Devon. Into his life comes mysterious Molly Shields and the sparks begin to fly.
Intriguing emotional story. Being a millionaire makes some parts unbelievable. The ex-wife shouldn't have gotten off so easily. But the importance of family and belonging comes shining through.

Keegan McKettrick has learned the hard way that women can't be trusted. The only female in his life these days is the young daughter he sees all too rarely - his sole passion is his job overseeing his family's corporation. The job allows him to run away from facing any of his anger and fears.
Molly Shields comes to Indian Rock - invited by Psyche Ryan, the adoptive mother (now terminally ill) of the child Molly gave up two years ago. In a twist, the father of the child turns out to be Psyche's now dead husband. Psyche wants Molly to be the child's mother upon her death.
Keegan decides that Molly must be after Psyche's money (even though unknown to him, Molly owns a literary agency and has more money thatn Psyche), and as Psyche's childhood sweetheart, he decides he's going to dig up any dirt he can to thwart her "plot".
But Psyche has other plans for the two who can't stand each other. A great book.
