I found Harlan Coben just last year and have read every single book he has on the market. I love his writing and the way he builds his characters. It is an absolute pleasure to read his books in order and see their progression.
originally I thought the sports aspect would be a turn-off for me, but it has so little to do with the story that it didn't bother me at all.

Witty, sarcastic, and fun. Combine a mystery, a sports theme, a likeable amateur detective and his eccentric enfocer and you get an easy, enjoyable read. Don't expect to be blown away by the plot which isn't particularly clever or put together, but the characters and dialogue are great.

Great twists and turns, a real page turner. Written with a terrific sense of humor.

It is no wonder that Harlan Coben has won so many awards. Deal Breaker is the first of the series featuring Myron Bolitar, the sports agent who hates his first name with a passion. Few are the mystery novels with witty lines such as this series has. Try it; you will enjoy it.

Myron Bolitar is a stud who is not intimidated by anyone. Quick read, and quite a page turner. There were new suspects around every corner. The ending was quite surprising.

This is the first book in Coben's Myron Bolitar series and I think the first book that Coben wrote. Myron Bolitar is a former college basketball star and former first round pick of the Boston Celtics. After a freak injury Bolitar makes the transition from athlete to agent. The story begins with Bolitar signing highly touted football draft pick Christian Steele. New client in tow Bolitar is destined for the big time. Unfortunately, for Bolitar things do not always go as planned. A mystery ensues and Bolitar will get into his trademark high jinx. Coben to me falls short in this one compared to his other work. I love his stand alone novels. However, the hook and suspense are there but Coben's trust in the reader is not. The ending seemed to be more fitting for a Scooby Doo episode and not a Coben thriller. His characters are endearing for the most part and the humor/dialogue is fitting. I will continue with the Bolitar series and give it more of a chance because of Coben's other work that I have enjoyed so much.

At first, I was tempted to stop reading this book. It was boring.
I decided to keep reading for a few more pages. As I was finishing it, it occured to me that Coben has a very nice style. I intend to read more of him.

This is right up there with some of the best books I have ever read. You will lose sleep because you just don't want to put it down.

Myron Bolitar owes something to Spenser, but he is so much more real, beyond the wisecracks and overconfidence. And Coben's writing keeps you on a wild ride till the very end! This is a great read!

Excellent! Quick read.. very entertaining!
Love, love, love the author Harlan Coben and this series. You can pick up any of his books and know that you will not be disappointed. The Myron Bolitar series is my favorite. Myron and his BFF Win are incredible characters. There is suspense, intrigue, plot twists, but my favorite attribute of Harlan Coben's writing is his humor. Unmatched. Thoroughly enjoyable. READ HIS BOOKS! :)
Great read. I love the Myron Bolitar serise.
I love Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series. The characters play well off of each other, and keep you wanting more. My mother and I both read this series and love it.
Yes just got around to starting to read this series. In the beginning you need to pay attention to all the characters IMO. I did enjoy the fact that Myron is a sports agent w/a sense of humor. There was alittle to much talk about porn and bad language for my liking. Not that I'm a prude or anything. But otherwise the ending had good explanations for what happened.
Gotta read the Myron Bolitar books. They are interesting and fully entertaining.
If you have enjoyed Robert Parker's Spencer books, you may well like this series also. I found the hero both likable, smart and goofy. Witty repartee abounds and many of the characters are classics (Think Little Pocahontas & Big Cindi). Start with this one, if possible, but enjoy them all.
Great book!
another great Coben book - couldn't put it down
contains language and sexual theme
entertaining characters!
love all his books, when you start reading them, you can't put them down.
This is a quick suspenseful read and I enjoyed it.
I really liked this book, it keep you guessing until the very end. Very good who dunit!
I enjoyed this book a lot.... Until I read a second book in the Myron Bolitar series. I would have given it 4 stars until I got 50 pages into the other book and it read like a recipe out of a Betty Crocker cookbook. I don't mind recipes for food, but in my books I need a little more spontaneity and a little less recipe.
Good story line for the 1st book of series, light reading, I hope for more good reading from the next ones. . .
Harlan Coben is one of my new favorite mystery authors.
I've read his current books but never his Myron Bolitar series, until now, and I wasn't disappointed. Although quite graphic explanations, did not stop me from enjoying this mystery and I am anxious to read the second book in the series. Paperback Swap is a great source for having book in a series in stock, and I am taking full advantage of that while reading the Bolitar Books. Sports Agent Myron Bolitar is on the verge of getting a big contract for Star Quarterback Christian Steele. Negotiations are moving along fine until Christian receives a call from his missing and presumed dead girlfriend, Kathy Culver. While Myron and his business partners try to figure out just what happened to Kathy, a mob contract has been put out on Myron's head.
This is the first book in Harlan Coben's Myron Bolitar series and it's a winner. There are lots of suspects and lots of story threads there are all tied up into a neat bow at the end of the story. The characters, even the minor ones, are all well-drawn which adds depth to the story. Myron is witty and sarcastic. I love his humor. I'm also fascinated with his sidekick Win Lockwood. I'll definitely be reading more of this series. My rating: 5 Stars.

This is another cliff hanger by Coben. He'll have you changing your mind several times about whether the missing girl is alive or dead?? If she's dead, what happened to her and who's responsible? Myron is a sports agent and a detective. He's responsible for getting to the bottom of her disappearance since the matter is a smear on his client's stellar reputation. If you've read any of the Myron Bolitar books, you'll know his sense of style and humor. He cracks me up...
It's hard to put this one down. But I was almost sorry when it ended. However, now I can get started on the next one...I gave it 5 stars!!!!!

From what I read, it sounds like Harlan Coben has anticipated Manti T'eo by about 20 years.
Absolutely loved it, got to have more and so glad this is a series.
Love his thought process and his friend Win.
If it needs done, then get it done.
Great start for a series.

An enjoyable book, very different from the non-Myron Bolitar books by Harlan Coben which I had read before. I look forward to reading the second book in the Bolitar series.
If you enjoy a good mystery, this is a really enjoyable book.
The first in the Myron Bolitar sports agent/detective series. A bit far-fetched and not as believable as his stand-alone novels, but it was still a fun and quick read.
I've never read a Harlan Coben book that I didn't enjoy, but I'm especially fond of Sports Agent Myron Bolitar and his cast of supporting characters. Deal Breaker is a suspenseful tale with our hero going outside his field of expertise to try to find a young woman who was believed dead. Coben instills Myron with intelligence, physical prowess, charm, and a snarky self-deprecating sense of humor. Myron's eccentric friends come to his rescue frenquently, but it is his own moral code and unrelenting desire to find the truth that solves the mystery.
Anything by Coben is great.
Personally I have only just discovered this older series (this is the first one) after devouring everything else Coben has written in the past 5-10 years ... I LOVE the humor, sarcasm, plots, characters - everything about this series! Highly recommend. I think guys will especially like these (but don't worry ladies, I don't think you'll be turned off!).
Funny, smart; vintage Harlan Coben. This is the first in the Myron Bolitar series.
Good mystery that kept me guessing. Myron is a bit annoying with his Spenser-esque joking at every opportunity, especially in the face of danger. And his "love that never dies" for the drop dead gorgeous woman who dumped him. Co-hort Win a little too convenient, and improbable. But I want to return to this series.
Love Myron and this is an early one.
Author has a good sense of humor...
Exciting, well written, funny, snarky and all those other good things in one book.
I love Myron Bolitar and I can't wait to read more of him, Esperanza and Win.
This is not my usual genre but it is fast becoming one of my favorites.

good quick read. Coben covers murder, rape, porn and violence in a light humorous style. I intend to read more by him.

Really great continuation of the Myron Bolitar series.
An interesting if dated mystery. Keeps your attention and has a satisfying ending.
Excellent book. Great story line. I would recommend that you put this on your list of books to read. You won't be sorry.
Great intense read. Hold on for a great story and series.
This book was hard for me to get into. Definitely my least favorite of the series, but I kept going and have enjoyed the follow ups.
Everything you have come to expect from Harlan Coben.

Myron Bolitar is an up-and-coming sports agent. One of his collegeate quarterbacks is about to turn pro, and Myron is negotiating his contract and a slew of endorsement deals. Unfortunately, things are not going as well in his personal life: he is recently dumped and still lives with his Mom.
When an old flame asks for his help in investigating a connection between the disappearance of her sister and the death of her father, Myron agrees to help because he just might get lucky with her and the sister also happens to be the ex-flame of his gravy train quarterback, who is fast becoming the cops' top suspect. Sound confusing? Fans of Harlan Coben's standalone thrillers know that his plots have many twists and turns, and the characters often have surprising hidden connections. That holds true for this first book in the Myron Bolitar series. Though still violent, this book has a lighter tone than the standalones. The first person narrator of Myron has a sarcastic sense of humor, which makes this a humorous as well as well-plotted mystery.

I quit reading after 5 pages. Too many F-words.
This got more interesting towards the end and it was interesting enough throughout to keep me reading, but it wasn't all that hard to put down. However, I think part of that is because I'm not a sports fan. The suspense was good and the ending was a surprise.

At the beginning of this novel, I kept asking myself what the big deal was about this series. I did like it by the time I finished, but it was a bit of a long road to make it there. It got off to a slow start, and it took me until about a third of the way through before I really started to like it.
I think my biggest issue when it came to getting into the story was that I didnt find Myron to be terribly likeable. I really have a hard time when I dont relate to or like the main character, but I really forced myself to persevere since so many people seem to like this series...
