Another twist-filled book from "the modern master of the hook-and-twist"--Harlan Coben. In this case, Matt is a good middle-class suburban kid who, while in college, gets in a fight and accidentally kills another kid. He tells the truth, trusts the legal system and winds up in jail for 9 years. Upon leaving he finds the love of his life...Olivia.

From there on, it's all about Matt's love and belief in his wife. However, he learns that her whole past is based on the series of lies and cover-ups, and his happy, serene life begins unravelling very quickly.

A good read. You can't ever really guess what's going to happen in Harlan's books. But, he doesn't leave anything hanging. It's all in the story FOR A PURPOSE. At the end, you slap your forehead and say, "Why didn't I think of that?????"

In this book, too, he leads the reader to really sympathize with Matt. And, even tho it's a work of fiction, this story is a good reminder that unconditional faith and trust between a man and a woman might actually exist.
