The Sue Grafton Alphabet series is a great read. Start from the beginning with A is for Alibi.

The series features 35-year-old private investigator Kinsey Millhone, a former police detective, and is set in the 1980s....before all the "social media," cell phones, etc.
Back to the days when private investigation required a lot of actual foot work.

This series was a wonderful trip back in time a bit, great characters, great plots, and a lot of humor.

Enjoy. Sadly, Grafton died while writing the last book of the series, and her family decided to not publish. But you can read right up through the letter Y.

M is for Malice features Kinsey in a fast paced marvelous and memorable chase to solve the latest crime thrown her way.

I highly recommend this series. You'll laugh, you'll cry, you'll be frustrated, and most of all, it never bores.
