Kinsey Millhone is my all-time favorite female protagonist. Sue Grafton never disappoints with this fabulous series. I find myself waiting impatiently for each new book to come out, but at the same time I'm grateful that Ms. Grafton doesn't just throw them out quickly and without great thought. Each one has been exciting and thoroughly enjoyable. Kudos to you, Sue Grafton!

This was the best Kinsey story I have read (and I've read almost all them). Full of suspense and terribly well written. Definately a must read for Sue Grafton fans.

Her books are great! She begins with A and goes through the alphabet with catchy murder mystery titles. This one is M is for Malice.
It's been a little while since I read it, but I remember it as a pretty exciting read. Grafton's characters are always colorful and well fleshed-out. Kinsey Millhone digs into an old family drama, and stirs up a hornet's nest. The story and suspense build bit by bit to a very exciting climax. A very entertaining read.

PI Kinsey Millhone is hired to locate a missing son who is named a a beneficiary in a will under probate. One of the four sons of multi millionaire, Bader Malek, Guy is now a middle aged man who walked out on his family as a teenager, when he was constantly in trouble with drugs, drink and theft. Upon the death of the old man, Guy must be located so that the assets may be distributed, even though his brothers insist that their father had made a later will disinheriting him. Kinsey finds him working as a janitor of a small church, where he claims to have found the Lord, dried out and generally cleaned up his act, and warms to him, believing that he genuinely has turned over a new leaf. She returns him to his family who are less than overjoyed, realising that the millions will now have to be divided four ways. A few days later, Guy is discovered with his skull caved in and the search begins for the murderer. The story has some neat twists and turns before the end, making it a not bad read.
A very quick read. Liked this one - Kinsey takes a job from her cousin Tasha, who bailed her out of a jam in the last book. My initial guess on the murderer was wrong although I think it would have been a more likely scenario than Grafton's, but it works anyway. This time there were a couple likable characters among the suspects. Kinsey's malaise in this book was interesting - she's taking stock of her life and finding it wanting, but I know from subsequent books she isn't going to change much if anything. The part where she describes herself as risk-averse made me laugh; I felt Grafton did a good job making her clueless about that part of her life.

Kinsey Millhone is a great character. Light reading at its best. I'm a man and have no trouble reading this lady detective stuff.

Suspense from first to last page. I couldn't put it down-had to read it in one evening.
I feel for Kinsey in this one. A great who-done-it that pulls on the heart strings.

in this excellent title by the bestselling author Kinsey is approached by a cousin who is a lawyer to find the long lost son of a wealthy family. Actually Guy Malek was a troubled young whose father paid him to go away & not come back. Father's death reveals a old will that still includes the troubled son but no one knows where he is or the more recent will.
Sue Grafton's books are great airplane or beach reads. Easy to read and fun.

The Sue Grafton Alphabet series is a great read. Start from the beginning with A is for Alibi.
The series features 35-year-old private investigator Kinsey Millhone, a former police detective, and is set in the 1980s....before all the "social media," cell phones, etc.
Back to the days when private investigation required a lot of actual foot work.
This series was a wonderful trip back in time a bit, great characters, great plots, and a lot of humor.
Enjoy. Sadly, Grafton died while writing the last book of the series, and her family decided to not publish. But you can read right up through the letter Y.

This book was slow moving until about the half way mark. I was getting annoyed and wanted the pace to pick up but in hindsight, I realized Grafton was slowly painting in her picture. This story was different and I like her efforts to keep things from being too repetitive. Now that I've finished the book I think it was one of her better books.
Love this series. I have them all. Ended up with a duplicate, the only reason I would get rid of this!
Wonderful Book. Sue does it again and again.
I have read all of Grafton's books up through "S". I enjoy them a lot. They all are good reads.
