Loretta Chase spins another terrific yarn in the Dressmakers series. Scandal Wears Satin takes up with the middle sister, Sophy, who is the "actress" in the family, always putting on disguises and becoming different characters as she infiltrates the Ton. She keeps running into Harry Fairfax, Lord Longmore (evidently this is pronounced Lonemore if you ever wondered), elder brother of their favorite and most important customer Clara. When Clara winds up compromised and forced to agree to marry a lying, bankrupt jerk, Sophy and Harry join forces to save Clara and Maison Noirot, the dressmaking business.
The dialogue is fun and often hilarious, the wardrobe descriptions are almost mouthwatering if you like that sort of thing. There are a couple steamy scenes and the romance clicks along nicely.
While I've never read another book that rivals my favorite Loretta Chase story, Lord of Scoundrels, this book is certainly charming and worth the read.
