Lots of sad stories... real life certainly can and most likely has happened that way, but not much in the way of happy endings here. I am not as familiar with Russian culture, so if one is or knows this author from other places, one might enjoy. A good reminder to be careful who you decide to become romantically involved with, to whatever degree.

Was going to send this book on to a friend who had spent some time in Russia, but she was looking for more uplifting reading material so I decided to send it back through PBS for another reader who might better appreciate.
