This is the second book in Kat Martin's "Bride's Trilogy." It's about Reese, the Dewar brother that had been a soldier until his leg was injured and he had to leave the military in his mid-20's. He happens to run into his old flame, who he thinks ditchec him when he previously re-enlisted, and is upset that he can't quit thinking of her. Even tho she married another man, became a mother and also a widow.

This is truly the story of a man that builds walls around his heart. And he desperately doesn't want to love this woman and her son. He doesn't want for her to wield that power over him again. It's also the story of a struggle for the title of earl. Now that her husband is dead, the title legally is passed to her son. But, her brother-in-law and his wife are ready to take all measures possible to see that it doesn't happen.

There is much passion in the book, cameo appearances by some of Reese's family, and intrigue. His Aunt Aggie is blunt and outspoken, as usual. THis was a good read, and I'm ready for the 3rd book due out in a few months. This will be about Rule Dewar and his bride.
