I loved the backdrop for this book - the world of auto racing - as my Dad was a big drag racing fan. Not sure if he would have seen the ferociousness in a purple Gremlin that Tess Hardaway (or Jeanie London) did but... Give me the Camaros, the Mustangs, the T-Birds anyday, even a Pacer would have been better. Anyway, I digress.

The plotline is good. Auto mechanic world meets Auto sales world in a win-win situation but the Auto sales world can't be gotten to. So the ever inventive Anthony DiLeo decides to approach Tess Hardaway as a way to get to her father, the head of the business and the ultimate goal. But, as a good story goes, plans go awry and Anthony and Tess end up spending some long, hot days driving a non-high speed race for the glory of it. And after some diversions of their own and some plot twists to help, they end up with that win-win and a lot more to boot.
