Several years after the end of WWII Will Hastie leaves the army and returns to his Scottish home, desperately missing his best friend Rae who died early in the war. In many ways life moves placidly along, but the war has altered many lives. A quest to undercover the meaning of Rae's last letter to his sister Patty leads to a surprising discovery with interesting (and satisfying) twists.
