I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I had read several bad reviews, some even saying they couldn't finish reading it. I actually found it a step above a lot of other paranormal books I've been reading lately. Sure, it wasn't great literature, but I'd say it had a little more depth to it compared to the last book I read "A Charmed Death". I'd say "When Darkness Comes" is two-demensional as opposed to Damsgaards one dimension. I was really into the first half of the book. The second half became extremely confusing for me. The author was mixing vampires, humans, shallots, wizards, demons, etc etc..I couldn't always keep track of what was what and who was who. A vampire is a demon and a wizard is a human but magical....ok...
At the end of the book, there was the first chapter of the next book in the trilogy, and it looks really interesting.....something about the demon slave trade. I'd be interested in reading the second book.
