SLEEP IS FOR SISSIES
That master of the macabre Alfred Hitchcock has only scorn for people who dream their nights away. No one should waste those deliciously dark hours between dusk and dawn when the wind howls the loudest and the smallest sounds can reap the greatest dividends of dread. Therefore in his latest collection Hitch has personally selected tales tailored to break the stranglehold of slumber and make sure that all your nightmares are waking ones.
Seventeen spinetinglers by: William Arden, Charlotte Armstrong, Frances Beeding, Robert Bloch, Lawrence G. Blochman, Joseph Payne Brennan, Marguerite Dickinson, Charles Einstein, Guy Fleming, Anthony Gilbert, Joe Gores, Dion Henderson, Morris Hershman, Edward D. Hoch, James Holding, Adobe James, Day Keene
I will tell you that, having been published in 1971, the stories have an old-fashioned feel to them. Having adjusted to that, the stories are pretty good. They aren't the best I've read, but many do carry that twist at the end for which Hitchcock is famous. An enjoyable read.

William Bennett continues to reveal his passion for proclaiming virtues which are the foundation of successful living. In these tapes you will hear well known actors and actresses of stage and screen read stories, poems, and important historical documents which, through the years, illustrate important character traits often forgotten in the frantic pace of our society.

Another classic WWII Book. This book is a powerful and well documented account of Operation Marker Garden. Mr. Ryan gives a vivid desciption and analysis of why Monty's ambitious plan failed. He covers both sides of the story (Allies and Axis) at such great lengths that you almost feel as if you are right in the middle of the action yourself. The most compelling part of Mr. Ryan's book is his perspective of this disaster from the individual soldier level, both officer and enlisted. The drama that resulted from this operation, especially in Arnhem, will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens in the end. I definitely recommend this book for anyone who has read Mr. Ryan's other books (The Longest Day, The Last Battle), or has an interest in WWII, and airborne operations. The movie that was made based on this book is also a classic.

A nice and light read. Very enjoyable. A mystery told from the perspective of a widowed woman who turned 60. She has recently gone from an empty house to living with her 87-year-old mother-in-law and her recently widowed daughter. Throw in 3 dogs and a persnickety cat and you've probably got too much change to handle!

Veteran Texas journalist Jim Marrs pulls together a stunning wealth of facts and new evidence to reveal the glaring defects in official versions of what happened that fateful day in November 1963 when President Kennedy was shot. Backed up by rare photos and evidence from a dramatic, newly-available, video-sequence, Crossfire is the startling and comprehensive account of America's most infamous crime. Disturbing by its very thoroughness, this book poses and answers new questions on an event that too many people in high places have been trying to lay to rest.

A profoundly different novel, told from the perspective of an autistic fifteen-year-old boy. Hard to put down once I'd started reading. A quick and easy read.

The 2nd book in the Professor Dr. von Igelfeld series. Very dry humor. Highly entertaining if you like that type of humor.

This acclaimed bestseller brilliantly illuminates a hidden piece of World War II history as it tells the harrowing true story of nine American airmen shot down in the Pacific. One of them, George H. W. Bush, was miraculously rescued. The fate of the others-an explosive 60-year-old secret-is revealed for the first time in FLYBOYS.

A national bestseller because of Harrison Edward Livingstone's astute analysis of the conspiracy to kill JFK, the act itself, and the cover-up that followed.

I'm not normally one who listens to romance, but this story was pretty good all on its own. The romance is a nice addition to the plot.

One of the best books I've ever read! The writing is so well done that I had a hard time putting the book down. Don't be scared of its 973 pages.
