Discovering Christopher Columbus: How History Is Invented
Review Date: 3/28/2010

Discovering Christopher Columbus-How History is Invented, by Kathy Pelta, is a good book about Christopher Columbus, and exactly what it says, how history is invented. It has historical photographs and simple, easy to understand, writing. The subject matter can be interesting to both a second grader all the way to an adult. The reading level is simple enough that a third grader can read it. I have read it myself and found it to be not only informative, but relaxing as well. The book is organized by chapters, each building on the other. The subject of how history is invented is intertwined into the story in a way that is colorful. It adds to the excitement of the story. If your child is into true adventure, this could be the book to captivate him or her. If your a curious adult looking for a simple, but unique history book, this is a good one.

This is the psychologist, Charles Whitfield's, classic book on healing your "Inner child". He explains in detail about the inner child that lives inside of you as an adult and a method of reaching it and healing it. This self help book is insightful and practical. See Wikipedia under "Inner Child" for more information on this subject.

This is a hilarious Dick and Jane (1950'children's reading primer)satire. The setting is Dick and Jane in modern Jewish culture. Yiddish substitutes English vocabulary words in a comical way in keeping with the primer style. Glossary of Yiddish words is in the back also defined with laughable humor. This is a must read for those that remember the good old days with the Grandparents and Dick and Jane or those courageous enough to learn Yiddish.
