The Curious Case of Benjamin Button: Story to Screenplay
Review Date: 3/12/2009
Helpful Score: 1

I absolutely loved this book! It was so interesting to read the short story by F. Scott Fitzgerald in the beginning that "inspired" the screenplay. I say "inspired" because the only thing the two had in common was the main story line of someone being born old and aging backwards. Everything else was different. Which I didn't expect, but was wonderful non the less!

Yet another great book from Jennifer McMahon. I have to say I think is her best. I also love the short chapters she uses, it allows me to just pick up the book and read a few pages when I get a few minutes here and there with two little ones running around. I feel that keeps the pace of the book to go quick as well.
Can't wait for her next one!

I was a little skeptical at the beginning of this book. But as you get into it you really connect with the characters and I found myself very emotional at the end. A superbly written book!

What a wonderful book! My head hurts with all the information but it's a good hurt! I couldn't put the book down to see where the author took me. I can't wait to read another by Scarlett Thomas.

I had read so many wonderful reviews of this book so I decided to order and see what the fuss was about. Well, it took me a long time to really get into the book. Not until about page 100 did it really hold my attention. And the ending really left more to be desired. I have the next book in the series, "The Likeness" and I am hoping it gets off to a better start. If not, I'm not sure I will opt to read the third.

At first, reading this book I couldn't help but get the feeling that the main character just always put herself down. It was kind of depressing and I'm not sure I would pick up another book by this author. I thought her choice of "slang" words used to describe the main character were crude and offensive.

I loved this book! What a great idea to see a couples relationship for just one day a year for over 20 years! Mr. Nicholls is such an engaging writer - you really get to know Dex and Em. I was actually weeping the last 30 pages of the book while my husband was asleep beside me! I might just keep this one to read again one day. I also read that they have already begun filming the movie version and can't wait to see if it lives up to it's predecessor. Well done!

I thought this book was very interesting. I love to watch the cop shows on t.v. and reading this book just gave you that much more of an insight on what really goes on when they try to catch the bad guys. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys crime investigation.

Like so many others I wanted to love this book. And at first I did. I did feel the author was too descriptive. He just kept going on and on.... I feel it would have been a much better book had he written it mostly in the viewpoint of the dogs. Those were his best chapters. The ending stunk. I was hoping for more.

This was a "good" read. The only reason it's not a "great" read is because sometimes the author had the main character Zephyr go on and on in her head about what might happen that it became really annoying. It didn't get really good until about page 200. Then I couldn't put it down.
