Honestly surprised by the low reviews of this book. This is a book completely out of the norm for me, and I have never read a book by this author. I was drawn into it within the first chapter and finished the book quickly, especially since it is busy summertime with not much time for reading. I went back and forth on how I felt about the main character throughout the entire book, which is what I think kept me captivated to read more. A hard story line of a suburban mom turned pill popper, yet blunt truths from various perspectives.

Wasn't really sure this was my kind of book, but I absolutely loved it. Short stories written by horse lovers, horse owners of all kinds. Great read, good tips & some funny stuff!

The "Marley & Me" of the horse world....you do not have to own and/or love horses to read this book. It is truly an amazing story of how a unwanted, neglected horse changes the author's entire outlook and perspective on life. Any animal or person for that matter can do this, if you allow them to. I do not normally read memoirs, but was drawn in from the cover & first few sentences. Reading this book actually made me think & changed my life. It is not often you can say that about a book! A must read for anyone!!!!

Excellent writer who shares her vulnerable side in a way like no other. I was skeptical of a book that talks about how the publishing of a book changed an author's life, but this book removed all skepticism in the first chapter. I was hooked! Amazing writer with an amazing story to tell - anyone can relate to at least one part of the book - does not take a horse lover to understand as the cover may lead you to believe. Susan Richards is now one of my favorite authors....

This was a book that I chose simply because it is a completely different genre of book than what I normally read. I was pleasantly surprised how well written & what a great story line was inside these pages to follow. Well worth the time!

Started out a litte slow, but then got going and was interesting. Unfortunately, after reading every V.C. Andrews book there is, I was able to come up with 2 different ending - one of which is pretty much how it turned out. Still a good read and well worth my time!

5 stars is not enough for this one! One of the best horse books I have ever read. Author speaks from personal experience and breaks the training concepts down into words so well. It's like having a trainer speaking to you.

This book is extremely hilarious for anyone to read. If you are neurotic, pick it up to feel better about yourself. If you think you are not neurotic, pick up this book and you are likely to change your mind.

What a great book! Completely heartbreaking real life story. But from the very beginning it keeps you captivated as you want to know how the beginning relates to the end, and what brought both people there. Well written!
