Mostly a picture book but does give good, descriptive text on the individual mustangs in the photos. And a bit of their stories, who is related to who or belongs to which stallion's harem. Quick a bit written about what color the horses are.

Of course having been a former "pony wheel girl" as a young teenager during almost the same years as the main character, I really enjoyed this book. Though the main story is not about the ponies, they are written of through the two time periods that this story takes place. The main characters are well written. There are mysteries in everyone's past and this one is well woven. Entertaining and easy to read. A good summertime read as it is set during their last summer together.

Did not care for this book or much for the characters. The first couple of chapters were promising and then blah. I seldom quit books but I did this one.
Funny that the cover looks very much like the cover of one edition of The Richest Season which was a great book. Just different shells held in front of a different color shirt. Strange!

I enjoyed this Elizabeth Berg book and have always enjoyed her writings. The book doesn't drag you down through too much of the characters emotions. Yet you find yourself forming opinions of the main characters and wonder how you would react to the same news.
In her books, are scattered mentions of things, that remind me of my own childhood. Whether it is a toy, old TV program or event like in this case going to the state fair. And there is a comfort in knowing that someone else took note of the same inconsequential things and actually put them down on paper.

Interesting book about the Assateague Ponies, covering all topics. Such as:
Their history, activity patterns, interaction with other animals, social organization, herd behavior including that of the mares, stallions, foals, population dynamics, impact on the island etc. Photos in the book also.

Liked the audiobook, just not the main character, needed to separate the two. Narrator Scott Brick is really good. Nice voice to listen to.

Enjoyed reading about the different ex-racehorse and how they came to this rescue place. Author even researches their bloodlines a bit and relates the current horses traits to his ancestors. She definitely learned about the horses and vet care and training/retraining. Good quick read.

The beginning of the book really pull you in if you are a horse person. The way the author describes the look of a horse when admired by this cowboy and how they seem to connect on a deep level. The description of the different States' scenery and ranch life are well written. The ending is a total disappointment. Not that every book I read needs a happy ending but it needs to be at least satisfying and not feel half finished. Like the author was meeting an editing deadline or had run out of steam. Normally I read horse books and send them along to a friend who also enjoys horse books. I will not be doing so with this book. I don't want her to spend hours reading this book to come face to face with such a disappointing and unsatisfying ending as I did.

I did like this book, have read up to Bk 7 so far in this series. It is best to read them in order as there are repeat characters. THe main characer the vet Gail, went thru a depression in this book. Author Laura Crum has done an excellent job of describing exactly all the symptoms and feelings a person has when going thru a depression. This makes the heroine seem more real and you get to know her on a more personal level than just walking thru a storyline. If you like the series, it is worth the read. And without giving away Bk 7, it helps her grow as a person and be ready for what takes place in Bk 7.

Good short chapters, not long and drawn out. Interesting details for those familiar with those years, not all about the Mod Squad show either. Enjoyed it.

While parts of this book were interesting, it was very hard to read of how they broke horses. Also, some things you read and can never forget. One story in here about an ignorant person and the ignorant people around him urging him on as he attempted to geld a horse. Stating over and over it was not working when it was discovered that he was attempting this with a very dull knife but had gone past the point of being able to stop the "operation". Just reading about the poor horse's repeated heavy groans while this idiot hacked away at him. Just too much for this horse lover to read.

Liked this book and series. This is in the Annie's Secrets of the Quilt series. The main character, Sofia, has inherited her grandmother's priceless quilt that has been passed down through generations. Each part of the quilt holds a mystery from the past. Her great grandmother wrote a diary that reveals what each previous generation's owner story is. This books' mystery is this - is it possible that the quilt has ties to Mona Lisa? Read it and judge for yourself.
