I loved this book! Bourdain writes about food and people the way he sees, tastes and experiences them all. Sometimes he is a little hardcore, but honest and truthful. He doe'nt mince words and gives you the straight facts. I am not a fan of organ meats, but it made think I would try it!! This book made want to go to all those little villages on the river in the jungle just for the experience! Bourdain rocks!!!

As a nurse, this book gave me insight into what some of my patients go through. I felt for Jean. What it must have been like,I can't imagine. Jean was very eloquent and spoke from the heart. A quick read, but a good one.

This is a very good book. I could see the pain in Emi-san's eyes and hear Jun stutter. It felt like I was there. I have read books by other Japanese writers, but sometimes they is hard to understand. Hiroko Sherwin writes of the Japanese life but it is understandable. This is a good read.

Wow!! This book did not turn out the way I thought it would. A small girl lives in a french town during WWII. It goes back and forth between then and now. She tells the story through the use of food, and describes each moment with such reality that I could see and feel it all. I could not put it down!!

Fourteen Friends' Guide to Eldercaring : Practical Advice, Inspiration, Shared Experiences, Space for Your Thoughts
Review Date: 4/4/2009

So, I was not sure if this book would be helpful or not, but it is. As a nurse,I have learned alot about eldercare, but this reminded of somethings I had forgotten like nutrition and working around difficult situations with the elderly instead of head on. As a past caregiver for my elderly family members, it was good to remember how to do this and that I could do it! Lots of good tips and advice. I feel less alone on this journey!!

I read this book years ago when it first came out and I have to say it gave me the creeps. I would not read it at night, which I did. Scared myself to death. As a writer though, Stephen King is a great story teller. Where he comes up with this stuff I can only imagine.
