This book has a nice picture cover like the farm one. Not sure why it didn't come up.
Had a lot of fun with these books with my grandkids.

The Bobbsey Twins or Merry Days Indoors and Out (Bobbsey Twins, Bk 1)
Review Date: 2/2/2023

I loved these books as a child. In fact, they are the first that I actually remember reading. I just finished this first volume that I found a my local used book store. I did enjoy it very much, but am, as always, offended by the blatant racism of the times. Hence only 3 stars instead of 4 or 5.

I love this book! It was a great mystery which kept me guessing, a great coming of age story with very likable kids, a great family drama with wonderful adults as well. I began to suspect the killer, then changed my mind several times. Many twists involved in this. Great book! I'll definitely read more by Mr. Lansdale.

This is one of my favorites in the series. Great mystery & I love the interactions of the characters in Pickax & surrounding areas. A couple of murders, a wedding, a birth & the always entertaining antics of Koko & Yum Yum along with some surprises kept Qwill on his toes throughout. I highly recommend the series and this one especially.

Henrietta Sees It Through: More News from the Home Front 1942-1945 (Bloomsbury Group)
Review Date: 6/2/2011

I have enjoyed this book very much. The characters are just delightful and feel like friends. I particularly loved the chapter where Henrietta is asked to donate books for the Red Cross and is then told that they will be made into pulp. The outcome is so funny, but totally understandable for any book lover. It's a good look at life in England during the war.

Loved this book!! 4.5 stars. I think I read it years ago as the first few chapters really seemed familiar, but that may be because I've seen the movie. The first chapter is one of the best first chapters in any book I've read ... really set the mood for the story.

I love this series. This one is another good entry in the series. I'm enjoying it so much that I'm keeping these books to read again sometime when I need a fun comfort read. The characters are all very likable ... except for the villains, of course.

"I was and still am a big fan of Sal Mineo's and loved his movies. The one I remember the most was Exodus which I plan to see again along with several others. He also appeared in many television roles so I was able to watch him frequently. I don't remember his music ... don't know why. I found the book quite good, well-researched and full of detail, at times the detail seemed to be overkill, but it's been a long time since I've read a biography of someone who lived so recently with so much information available for an author to draw on. The author did a wonderful job of talking with people in his life and researching magazines, newspaper reviews, etc. I do not like spoilers in reviews so I won't give any except to say that I was surprised at some of his relationships, both with family and with friends. Those of us who lived through the 60s & 70s can certainly identify with at least some of his choices. I grew up in the south which always seemed to me to be a bit slower than the rest of the nation with the behaviors & habits of those times. I never knew the actual tragic circumstances of his death and after chatting with a friend recently, realize that many still do not. I highly recommend this book.

The Thirteen Problems (aka The Tuesday Club Murders) (Miss Marple, Bk 2)
Review Date: 7/16/2012

I love Miss Marple and these stories were good. I do prefer her books rather than short stories. I'm on a long quest to reread all the Christie books and I've started with the Miss Marple series as she is my favorite armchair detective.

I had a hard time getting into this one, but once I did I had a hard time putting it down!! What an awful time in which to live ... very few were trustworthy or loyal. And most were obsessed with the throne and would do anything to gain it. Very sad about the 2 boys in the tower. Wonder if that mystery will ever be solved.
