I liked the two main characters but wished there was more romance and less confusing drama that took the whole book to resolve. There were too many extra Characters, mainly the bad guys , who were involved in a way too complicated, detailed and far -fetched plot! If only she had constructed a simpler scenario for his secret mission and one that would be more realistic.
It was still a good book but only worth 3 stars instead of four!

I enjoyed this story of the 3rd brother Patrick so much that I managed to stay up till 3am and still finish it in 24 hrs. Great plot and romance and wonderful new characters that added extra excitement and interest to the main love story. Was great to see the two married brothers and wives again a few yrs later. This author is first rate in historical details and character development and develops great heroes and heroines. This story had a touch less romantic interactions than the previous in series but it still is an outstanding story and has a great finale. I could not guess how it could end. She really left the Diego character with lots of loose ends hanging so I hope to hear his story one day. I have just started reading this author and she is one of my all time favorite Scottish Highland authors. Really best to read this series in order.

In my mind, you just can't beat a romantic story of a Highland warrior in the early centuries. Out of Ms. Sinclaire's stories of the 7 McTiernay brothers, this is one of my top two! Loved it right from the start as Cole arrived in England, to retrieve and deliver Ellenor to her cousin at his brother's castle. They both, of course, are carrying their baggage with their past, which interferes with their romance yet they both intuitively understand ea other, try to fight their attraction, and have some lovely squabbles and challenges along the way. I enjoy it when the people around them see their perfect attraction while the H&H can't quite grasp it yet. Very worthwhile story!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a little bit of everything. Dreamy Scottish hero, well developed charaters, exciting love story from beginning to end. A very unique plot and solution to the heroines great dilemma. Sexy where appropriate but not overdone as some authors like to overdo. This was a new author to me and i will read most of her books now, as the second in the series was written as excellently as this first. The two sequels are set up as you meet the two families in this first story. I really liked this authors storytelling.

I really enjoyed this story and slower moving romance. These two hurt and broken souls needed more time than the average to adjust to new circumstances and see if they were a good fit. I actually thought it was a realistic portrayal of how these two would need time to know and understand themselves before committing to another. loved her plot development with many
surprises in later part of book. It was good to see Ben's interactions with his Survivor group of friends and be reminded of them all as there was a big gap for me in reading this one over a year after the first two in series. I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

I really enjoyed this story. I have read over 20 of her Highland books and this love story makes my top five. I had to read "wee" into the night because I could not put it down. Love how we get to see characters reappear from other related family stories. It's cool how the big family clans always come to aid support the character or sibling who is in trouble.

This will be a favorite! Great love story with realistic premise. Two great characters. Very exciting story from first page. I love a book that is so good so fast that you can barely take a break until you're halfway through. I highly recommend.

I really love Mary Jo Putney books. It was fun to buy a new one at the store that looked so tempting. A great genuine romance with a great hero and heroine.
The story develops down a realistic path and it was a nice change to have a doctor as the main love interest instead of a of the usual brash Lord or rogue. He does unexpectedly inherit which adds multiple layers of drama to a great tale. The twists and excitement take you right to the end. Well done once again Mary Jo! I realized afterwards that I had purchased the 7th of the Lost Lords series and had only read the first 3 so now I can't wait to read #4-6!

I really enjoyed this book as the 2nd in an excellent series. Hank and Molly were realistic main characters and I loved getting to know them and what made them tick. Not just a romance but a couple of suspenseful situations which don't resolve until final pages. There were also some delightfully funny parts and lines which are not often easy to keep realistic but these had me laughing outloud! It was wonderful to have the brother Grady and his wife Jessica from the first story be an integral part of the second. I love historical fiction and this is one of my favorite series so might have to keep these books for a reread once again. Looking forward to the love story of the missing little brother in the 3rd book who was MIA throughout this one! Ms. Warner is a gret author, a new favorite I have found.

This was an excellent read for me. I tried this new author and will definitely get more of her books especially the sequels to this one! Loved the well developed characters, great romance, authentic western era, great plot and plenty of nerve-wracking, exciting action.

This wasn't a favorite. It was good but I found Phoebe a bit annoying and a very hard learner. She had a wonderful family and it was a good love story. The hero was a very cool guy. I found myself anxious to finish so I could find a better book.

I really enjoyed this story more than I expected. Two great tortured characters that really fought falling in love . Many twists and turns in their drama but such a fun book that I stayed up way past my 2am deadline . I found it a wonderful love story, great hero, intelligent and feisty heroine, wonderful sparring between them and just the right mix of sex scenes. I could not get anything done until I finished the book the next morning! Love it when a story sucks me in that much!

I really enjoyed this very different Lord and Lady romance. Merrie was a very different type of lady having spent her life in the Cornish coastal community. Really enjoyed her brothers and her hard to imagine smuggling lifestyle but it fit the story well and made for intriguing interest from the newly arrived Lord. Towards the end I felt a bit frustrated with the heroine for being so stubborn and irrational at times. I liked that I could not guess the ending at all and was happy the author finally made some sense out of two hard headed people!

The title of book really fits in a wonderful way. this was a very different type story for the Regency period. I really liked it though and felt the two main characters were really well developed and in a relationship that really could have happened. It had lots of suspense almost to the very end of the book; kept wondering how they ever could work out together. really great plot in a different bent!
