The Art of Slow Reading: Six Time-Honored Practices for Engagement
Review Date: 5/24/2012

Thomas Newkirk really "hit the nail on the head." For all people who have felt that reading fast was mandatory need to read this book. Newkirk's explains how reading slowly is okay and even better than reading quickly. This is a fun and informative read. Never a dull moment. All educators should read this. Proponents of speed reading need to read this. Anyone who has ever struggled with reading must read this. It will make you feel good about yourself.

The Boys' War: Confederate and Union Soldiers Talk About the Civil War
Review Date: 6/19/2012
Helpful Score: 1

This is a detailed account of how the Civil War was looked at as The Boy's War. The author explains many details of what the boys went through and how they dealt with problems that arose. This is a great book for remedial reading. High interest.

This isn't up to par. Matt christopher has done a better job with some of his other books. I know someone else that would like to use my copies of this so that is the one positive aspect of having them.

A Currier Ives Christmas: Four Stories of Love Come to Life from the Canvas of Classic Christmas Art
Review Date: 4/25/2018

Sadly I must rate this book negatively. Being a Currier Ives story you would expect at least a picture or two. No such luck.
