We just finished reading this wonderful book! Gloria Whelan is a favorite author of ours and this book does not disappoint! Beauifully written and artistically detailed, we couldn't put it down. It was a wonderful read aloud book that gave us a glimpse of life in Africa near the turn of the 20th century.

I enjoyed this book, but it is depressing, at times. So much dysfunction and so many bad choices. I enjoyed the descriptive nature of Edwards's writing--easy to "get the picture" of her writing.

I really enjoyed this book as a combination of a current-day story along with some historical fiction. The two stories flowed together well and helped to highlight each other nicely. If you enjoy reading about the Salem Witch Trials, this book will be a hit!

We loved The Year of Miss Agnes. I wish there was a sequel to the story. This a wonderful story set in Alaska, full of great characters and a taste of life in the "far north".
