This story captivated me, not only because i have an interest in native americans, past and present, but because it is so true to life. It reminds me of the book and movie, Stand by Me. It portrays the trials and emotional trauma for all of the family members, father, mother, and son. I feel like I know the characters. Highly recommend.

This is one of my favorite books I have read in a long time. It depicts how a young girl, who is loved by no one, runs away to find a best friend, a place to stay, and a home among people who were strangers. The book has a twist in that her life becomes a real adventure even though she does not leave the home she has found.
