While the story could have been compelling, I found the unattributed changes in first-person speaker difficult, as well as the unannounced time shifts. I agree that the content has historical significance, but this story was too hard for me to read to truly enjoy it.

The most disappointing ending of a book ever. No questions answered. The protagonist went on a pointless quest and dragged us with him.

I found this book much more sad and upsetting than "wacky" or funny. It is very readable, and I was very interested in seeing what would happen next, but ultimately I will not be recommending this book to anyone I know.
