The book is a little confusing at time with it's flash back to the main characters past - separating who had what done to them. but a good read until the author's defining attempt of what the bible has said and who has a right to explore their religious freedom in the black church. it set the relationship up as the ultimate sin, as if there are little sins and big sins. judgment and self righteousness parishioners seems to thrive rather than acceptance.

Very well written, I normally don't like period stories but this was entertaining and had a very nice ending.

I found this book to be too descriptive of unnecessary things. The way the story went it became almost boring. I normally read a book a day but I had trouble hanging with this one.

A very good compelling story - easy read. Keeps you on the edge wondering what the characters reaction to different situations presented going to be. And a very unexpected ending.
