Around and About Paris, Volume 1: From the Dawn of Time to the Eiffel Tower (Arrondissements 1 - 7)
Review Date: 10/23/2016

This is by far the best book I know of if you're interested in knowing the history behind what you're seeing when you walk around Paris. I have used it on my Kindle, but I think the printed version is more useful because you can copy the parts that are relevant to where you're going. I highly recommend it!!

We've been going to Mt. Desert Island (where Bar Harbor is located) every summer for many years so reading this was fun. It was enjoyable enough that we read several more. It's good light summer reading. It was nice to hear about familiar places described in a recognizable way and I liked the characters, who maybe weren't all that believable, but that was ok.

Loved this book. Read it first before going to Hawaii for the first time - made my experience there a richer one.

The Sweet Life in Paris: Delicious Adventures in the World's Most Glorious - and Perplexing - City

This book is great! David's observations of life in Paris, and his wonderful recipes make for very entertaining reading. I finished the book just before spending two months in Paris, and found myself referring to it again and again, as my experiences reminded me of something he'd mentioned that turned out to be right on the mark. Even if you never get to Paris, you can enjoy what he has to say about it, and try his fantastic recipes. I recommend this book wholeheartedly.

Very suspenseful, well written book. Had no idea what was going to happen next.
