I loved this book. Although I usually don't like books set in cities,I liked the Manhatten setting. The character had a great view of life. Although she was comfortable with both the upper class and the lower class, she was constantly making sharp observations about both. Great dialogue, great characters and great ending.

The Best American Nonrequired Reading 2006 (The Best American Series)

This was an anthology of all kinds of different selections, fiction, nonfiction, graphic short stories and even lists. I liked the nonfiction, but thought the fiction was wierd. Some of the lists were interesting. One of the graphic selections was in such small print I couldn't read it. An interesting mix of short selections.

Loved this book! A story of a girls' high school basketball team from a Massachusetts college town. They need to toughen up to win the state championship. The story is about the families of the players and the coaches as well as the team and their games. Excellent book.

Beautiful writing, but I didn't really like the character. This is the story of a black woman in the Deep South during the Depression.
