A 'what if' book about life after nuclear war. An enjoyable story that offers hope that life can go on, differently, after a war of this magnitude.

The first part oft he book, like any book about a crazy person, is about Gary Heidnik himself. The middle section of the book contains details and scenarios about the women Heidnik kidnapped, abused and murdered. The book then goes into nearly a line-by-line retelling of the trial after Gary is caught, which comes across as very dry, unless you like reading about trials.

This book reads as if it was written for teenagers, a cute story of an adolescent struggling to find her place.

I enjoyed this second in the three part series a great deal. No actually I devoured this book, just as I did the first (Dies The Fire) and the third (Meeting At Corvallis) I'm reading now. Every time real life drew me away from the exception world Stirling has created it was harder to come back than the last time. His storytelling talent and writing style, which not every writer has in good measure, are equally compelling and entertaining. I give this book and the series all five stars!

This book was ok. It had funny parts, emotional parts and spiritual parts. But the whole thing smelled of a money making scheme to me. As I read through it I kept feeling like the author was thumbing his nose at anyone who is religous, making fun of all the commandments in a way. What did he expect from people really; wearing all white with a full beard and a cane?
