I was really surprised at this book. A diet high in sugar and fat is an absolute no-no for a cancer patient. This book is loaded with recipes no cancer patient should be using in their diet. The chocolate chip bars are the same recipe as on the chocolate chip bag only calls for butter-flavored shortening instead of butter. Shortening is trans fat. Cancer patients, steer clear. I threw this book in the trash. Didn't want to pass it on to any unsuspecting users.

Absolutely LOVED this book. The author did great research about Egyptian life during those times. She made these Bible characters really come to life. I could barely put it down.

Full of beautiful Christian-themed projects. Jesus in Gethsemane is wonderful. There are some that are Bible versees with a beautiful border. the borders could easily be done as a frame for a picture. This is one of those books I enjoy just looking through to appreciate the beauty of the craft.

Making Handbags: Retro, Chic, Luxurious
Review Date: 10/31/2010

Absolutely the ugliest handbags I've ever seen. I grabbed this book at the library and am SO relieved I didn't get a copy of it to keep. I'd be embarrassed to carry one of these. The cover handbag is the best of all, and even it's not impressive.

Memory Makers Creative Photo Cropping for Scrapbooks: Steps for Turning Your Photos into Works of Art (Memory Makers)
Review Date: 12/2/2009
Helpful Score: 4

This is a great book. The ideas are so creative, and so fun, I know I will be using a lot of the ideas in my scrapbooks. Most scrapbooking idea books repeat a lot of what is shown in other books, but this one is full of very unique ideas. I won't be reposting my copy. This is a keeper for me. I'm so glad I ordered this one.

On Wings of Praise: How I Found Real Joy in a Personal Friendship With God
Review Date: 3/13/2009
Helpful Score: 2

This is one of the most valuable books I've ever read. If you've longed for the secret to a closer, more meaningful relationship with God, but just didn't know how to achieve it, here's your answer. If the typical comment of "just give it to God" has left you frustrated, and wondering where God's inbox was, this book will give you the answers. This is truly a life-changing book. Don't be surprised if you end up underlining and marking this book in order to refresh your memory often. (Old habits and doubts do die hard.) I won't part with my copy and have aquired extra copies to give out.

Same Kind of Different As Me: A Modern-Day Slave, an International Art Dealer, and the Unlikely Woman Who Bound Them Together
Review Date: 3/23/2009
Helpful Score: 7

This book was chosen by a woman in the book club I belong to. I am so thankful she did. This is a wonderful story about the power of unselfish love to transform lives. You won't be seeing my copy posted here, this book is a keeper for me. It was a page-turner right from the start. Definitely a five-star book.

Great book. Kari Hansen gives good advice and illustrations on how to design great pages. I really like the fact that she shows the same pictures in 3 different layouts. Having a visual of the impact of well-designed verses poorly designed pages is a big help. I wanted this book so much I didn't want to wait for it to become available so I bought it off Amazon. Hit the 'Buy from Amazon" tab and treat yourself to a good book. This is a keeper for me.

It didn't take very long for me to decide this book was not staying in my collection. The layouts are either too cluttered or just plain boring. Before re-posting this book, I actually went through it several times trying to see if there were even a few designs I thought made it worth keeping. Found none.

Love this book. It was chosen by a member of my book club. I hate to admit my first reaction at the thought of reading this book wasn't excitement. Was I ever surprised! This book gives new insight and appreciation for Psalm 23. Anyone who reads this book will never view Psalm 23 in the same dim light as they did before reading this book. It's a keeper and you will not find it on my bookshelf unless I acquire another copy somehow.

Until a few years ago, I had never even heard of the Halifax explosion. This is a very good book on the various aspects of this tremendous tragedy. Not only does it result in an enormous fireball, but there's the sound shock, the vaccuum effect created, and also the tsunami. I learned so much about the fallout of a tragedy like this. Then there's the members of this family that suffered so much loss. My heart ached for the few who were left to put their lives back in order. The author did extensive research in not only family history, but also the technical details of this explosion and the surrounding area in which it occured. Very much worth reading.
