I enjoyed this book, but I was not addicted to it like I have been to the other Kate Atkinson novels I've read. I enjoyed the first half (or maybe 2/3rds) quite a bit and I definitely liked Ruby, in whose voice the story is told. I'm not sure what happened, maybe more characters than I could track.

A fast, light read. Anyone who wants to know a little more about Betty White and what she thinks will enjoy it, but might not be satisfied. She has written about 9 other books, so one can keep reading.

This book is wonderful. I learned about so many unexpected things, especially native Americans.
I particularly enjoyed her insights into the Clinton-Obama primary race and the following election.

I learned to steer clear of wedding magazines. And I am glad I am part of a faith community. I already was glad of course, but it is great to be rooted in one and know why I am marrying. The author is a New Yorker writer and I bet this is the article she wrote http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2003/04/21/youre-getting-married. that she then expanded for the book. Years ago there was an article in Yale student publication by a woman who had interned one summer at a bridal magazine. I used to send it to friends who were newly engaged, but as I passed out of the wedding years I have lost track of it.

I bought this for next to nothing at a thrift store. By the time I got home I realized I'd seen the movie. But my enjoyment of Anna Quindlen's NY Times columns made me keep it and start reading.
Maybe I don't remember the movie accurately, or misunderstood it, but this seemed quite different. I read it pretty quickly, partly because we are moving and I don't want to move it, but also because it was well written. I also enjoyed that it was told by the main character, looking back, and she gave hints as to how her life was a decade later, so I wanted to see how she got from here to there.
I look forward to reading more Anna Quindlen.

I was inspired to read this book when Ms. Robinson was a guest on the podcast "Denzel Washington Is The Greatest Actor Of All Time Period." I liked what she had to say, but felt it was a bit obscured by all her references and explicit material. I've started to follow her on Facebook and listen to her 2DopeQueens podcast.
