The numbers on the clock come alive as the mice scurry for food while the cat sleeps.

Boom Chicka Rock teaches young children to count through the lively antics of mice who live behind the numbers on a clock. The characters seem to leap off the pages with the use of dance styles that include everything from the jitterbug to the tango. Numbers have never been this much fun! Older readers will love the toe-tapping rhythm and humor in the text.

This book was awful!
Full of bullies and adults who should be mentors but are trying to act young by being cheating drunks. Drinking with her teenage athletes at her house! Promoting eating disorders! The list goes on and on. Awful characters. You are rooting for no one.
I stopped halfway through and truly don't care how it ends. Waste of my time and yours.
Don't waste a credit for this book!

While I liked this book, I did not like the conclusion between the three main characters. The resolution seemed very forced and I ended up not liking this book towards the end.

I gave it three stars because it did keep me intrigued for more than half with steamy scenes.

Olivia got on my nerves for the last half. Meh.

This is a sly tale, richly evoked by both Isadora's lavish paintings and the storyteller's dialect.

The Fox and the Hound is based on the Disney movie. It's about a fox and a hound who become the best of friends, but as they grow older their owners won't allow it. The age level for this book is 7-9 years of age. This book teaches some very important lessons: friends help friends no matter what and best friends are forever. This is a wonderful book for children to read.

Take Care, Good Knight (Good Knight, Bk 4)
Review Date: 7/13/2009
Helpful Score: 1

Three happy little dragons are asked by their friend, an old, old wizard, to take care of his cats while he goes away for a few days. Since their good friend, the Good Knight, has told them that it is good to do good deeds, they are glad to do so. The wizard gives them his key and leaves them instructions. Unfortunately, they cannot read. Going only by the pictures, they take the cats for a swim instead of giving them fresh water. Of course, the cats are not happy. Then they put the cats in the cupboard instead of giving them the food in there. The thirsty, hungry, angry cats are then taken camping instead of being put to bed. Finally, the Good Knight, who has been puzzled by the supposed "instructions," sets everything right, then gives them a book about learning to read. The text offers an amusing lesson with puns included. The double-page watercolors are filled with cartoon-y dragons, cats, forests, lakes, and fairy-tale characters. The cats' antics resulting from the dragons' misunderstandings are particularly laughter-provoking.

Treachery has destroyed the Clan Leonne and its Tyr'agar, hereditary ruler of the Dominion. Only one seemingly insignificant male member is briefly overlooked: Valedan, son of a concubine hostage in the neighboring Empire.

Unfortunately for the usurpers, in the Dominion there is a magic Sword with a stubborn and persistent loyalty to the legitimate Tyr'agar. The newly-installed ruler of the Dominion strives to kill Valedan in order to strengthen his own position.

Meanwhile, the God-Born kings of the Empire, realizing that they hold a potentially valuable ally, pledge to protect and support Valedan; the Demon Lords of the Shining Court, for their own purposes, support the Dominion.

As the annual King's Challenge is about to begin, Valedan enters the contest to prove he is no longer an unseasoned boy, but worthy to rule the Clans and the Dominion. The threats against Valedan and those charged to protect him escalate, and it seems unlikely that he will live long enough to finish the tests of martial arts. Ultimately he excels, but voluntarily forfeits his chance at the winner's title in order to help a fallen enemy.

This book is a sequel to The Broken Crown.
