Auslander opens his book by announcing his wife is expecting their first child. However, after having read this poorly written "memoir", I fear for the well being and safety of this child. Auslander plays up his "I'm the victim" role without taking any responsibility for his own actions. Everything he does is someone else's fault, be it his parents, his siblings, his friends, or even some nice young couples who tried to invite him and his wife over for sabbath dinner.
This book seems largely fabricated as well, or at least I hope that it is because I find it hard to believe someone could be this whiny and self-absorbed in real life. I'm glad I didn't buy this book, because I would hate to have such a person profit off me. For a respectful look at Orthodox Jews and religion, read A. J. Jacobs " The Year of Living Biblically".

I read this book a long time ago, but what really got me was when I learnt it was based on a true story- and how it differed from the book.
I do not want to give anything away in the review, but PM me after you are done if you want to know what I heard.
Just a note- it may upset you. It did for me.

This book gave me an uncomfortable feeling. Coming from a similar background like Delilah ( raised Orthodox, Jewish day schools and college) I knew girls who had similar "attributes" and ideas, but never to the degree Delilah had. While Ragen tells us in the introduction that Delilah's story is a composite of stories she has accumulated over the years, I still find it hard to swallow. I guess that means the book did what it was suppposed to- Ragen says she doesn't want us to root for Delilah. Frankly, I see no winners in this book at all. It was well written- I was hooked on the story- and although the end is not tied up in a neat package- I would like to imagine everyone got what they deserved.
If you were not a fan of her other books, don't attempt this one.

I really liked all the shopaholic books- but in this one Becky and her antics just got on my nerves a little. If you've read all the others, by no means skip this one, just don't get your hopes up too much.

Amazing and inspirational true stories. Makes you appreciate what you have in life, as well as take notice of the " coincidences" that occur to us every day.
