What a fabulous book! I was never sure where it was going to go next, and I couldn't figure out the ending until I got there.

Highly recommend.

Overall, this was enjoyable, quick read. Parts of it were a little far-fetched, and I'm not talking about the time travel aspect. I knew all along how it was going to end, but it didn't stop me from wanting to know exactly how the author was going to tie up the loose ends.

Excellent book - although fiction, read just like an autobiography

I was very disappointed in this book. The characters are shallow and spoiled and there were times where I just wanted to slap the main character Isabel. She arrives in Paris after breaking off her engagement three days before the wedding because of a disagreement over cake. Then, a fortuneteller informs her that she will marry aristocracy - all within the 10 days that she will be in Paris. It's all just so far-fetched and stupid. I had put Christmas in London on my Wish List, but deleted it after reading this one.

This book did not suck me in as quickly as the author's first two books, nor was it as quickly paced. But, I did enjoy it and found it to be entertaining. It will certainly make you think the next time you visit an art gallery.

I could only get through half of this book. I really wanted to like it, but I found I wasn't connecting with the characters and it didn't keep my attention. Although others may really like it.

Too many other books out there to read - I don't want to waste time on something I don't enjoy!

Cute book by the author of "The Most Exotic Marigold Hotel". This one also takes place in a hotel (or B&B to be exact). Buffy, a retired actor living in London, is left the hotel in Wales by a former flame. The book chronicles the romances of the people who either work or stay there during Buffy's classes for the recently divorced. A quick and charming read.

This is a cute book - but the plot is so far-fetched it's hard to take it seriously.

The book is told from the view point of Angela, a 27 year old from London, who catches her fiancee of 10 years in a very compromising position. She decides to flee to New York, and upon arrival is befriended by the concierge of the $375 per night hotel that her NY taxi driver takes her to because she didn't know where to go. The concierge gives her all kinds of things from the hotel storage room, free room service, free spa treatments, and a complete makeover. She then takes her on a shopping spree to Bloomies where our heroine drops about $1,000 on new clothes and makeup. She funds all of this by raiding the joint account she had with her fiancee. The thing is, all she does is eat throughout the entire book - by the end, she should not be able to fit into any of her new clothes. Within 3 days she has moved in with this new friend, and met two wonderful guys (one a handsome, rich investment banker, and the other is the lead singer of her favorite band). The book then follows her adventures with both men as she gets a job with a fabulous magazine as a blog writer. It just seems that everything falls into Angela's lap - nothing like this happens in real life - especially after only 3 days in a new city! I know it's fiction, but really.....

I could not "get into" this book. It was told from too many perspectives and I couldn't really tell what the plot of the book was.

I agree with everyone else - this is one of the best books I have ever read. I was sad when I finished it because I didn't want it to end. I hope that Ms. Niffenegger is writing another book - I will certainly be purchasing it.

I don't get why this book is so popular. I agree with the previous poster that there is way too much introspection and talk about the author's feelings and ailments. I thought this was going to be more of a travel memoir, and was a little disappointed.

The author totally has a mouth fetish. I am only 90 pages into this book, and the main character is either biting her bottom lip or the inside of her cheek or licking her lips or bouncing a pen off of her teeth. One of these, or another mouth related mannerism, happens on every other page. Once you notice it, it becomes annoying. But otherwise, I am enjoying the book.

This was a fun book, even for those of us not planning on taking a year sabbatical. Lots of good general travel information.
