I was a bit disappointed in this book, I was hoping for more fact and less anecdotes. I read a lot of books about animals, especially cats and dogs, and I found this one a bit cloying and "New Ageish". For comparison, I really enjoy books by Jon Katz, James Herriot, I liked "Marley" and "Dewey".

Ok, I've read a lot of books about cats. Most are all right. This one is great...a lot of history on the evolution of cats; the genetics of cats; the domestication (or lack thereof) of cats. If you want to learn about cats and how they have adapted to human society, this is the book! It's well written, and there is a ton of good information.

This is an excellent book for anyone wanting to learn about meditation. I have given this book to many people who wanted to start learning about how to meditate. It is thoughtful and well-written.

This is the 11th book in Simon Green's Nightside Series. Excalibur is returned, and John Taylor needs to fulfill its destiny. Like all the Nightside books, it is darkly humorous, though not quite as much as some of earlier books. This book uses Arthurian legend as its main plot, but twisted sort of sideways. Also brought into play are the Fairie Wars, with a lot of fighting going on. John Taylor is settling in as Walker, and he and Suzie Shooter are watching each other's back. Another great addition to a fun series.

Before Robin Cook, there was Fred Mustard Stewart. This book deals with a group of powerful men and women who want to reverse the aging process. They go to a clinic in Switzerland where a new anti-aging therapy is being tested. Of course, the process used is not ready for prime time and the results are not what were expected...

This is a quick read. It's about dogs and love...love between humans, and dogs, and friends, and lovers. It's the story of a group of neighbors in New York City who meet while walking their dogs; a year in the life of a group of people and their pets. There is a little romance, and a lot of unexpected friendship. A fun read especially if you are a dog lover and need a bit of cheering up.

This is a fun series if you like light-hearted mysteries and Golden Retrievers. Pretty good character development, with ongoing story lines. The main character is a lawyer who inherited 22 million dollars, so he only has to take cases that interest him. He is also part owner of a dog rescue, and owns a Golden Retriever named Tara. The mysteries are pretty good, and the books are fast, fun reads.

This is a really quick read. The premise is pretty goofy...a family of hired assasins and how the normal problems with romance and motherhood are made bizarre with the addition of the requirements of being an assasin. This book was a quick pick-me-up; light hearted and fun.

The Nightside...a different London, where magic rules. A dark urban fantasy series. If you have a twisted sense of humor, this series will entertain you. Charles de Lint darkened. It has the feel of Neil Gaiman's Neverwhere, but a bit more fully developed, as it is a series.

If you like Stephen King and Lee Child, Dean Koontz and F. Paul Wilson, you will enjoy this author. (When looking for his books, some have been published under the name "Micheal Marshall Smith". A bit eerie, lots of action, interesting characters and a good writing style. I am looking forward to reading the final two novels in the series.

This is one of Card's suspense/horror novels, in the vein of "Lost Boys" and "Magic Street"; so if you are a fan of his scifi Ender series, you may not enjoy this book.
But if you also like horror novels, this is a good one...not very gory, not very scary, but the plot is interesting and the writing, as always, is excellent. Quentin Fears, who has become a millionaire recluse, has never really accepted his sister Lizzy's death. He becomes embroiled in a mystery that causes him to deal with his sister's death, his own life, and to look at just what life and death mean, when he falls in love and marries a mysterious woman named Madeline. It turns out to be a terrible mistake, and it might be a fatal one.
But if you also like horror novels, this is a good one...not very gory, not very scary, but the plot is interesting and the writing, as always, is excellent. I picked this book up at the bookstore, thinking it was more paranormal/fantasy than romance; if you like a lot of romance/sex in your stories, this book has it. Just not the type of book I enjoy. If you like the paranormal romance stories, you would probably enjoy this; the writing is pretty good, and the action moves right along.
