This book was co-authored by Art Bell. It was the original book to inspire the movie "The Day After Tommorrow". It talks about the conditions that exist right now that can cause sudden and dramatic climate change. It goes into speculative history about past ice ages, floods and into possible causes for lasting change in the weather and environmental "status quo" on a global scale. Reads more like a novel in some places. Afterall Whitley is a fiction writer.

Complete Illustrated Guide to Everything Sold in Hardware Stores
Review Date: 12/29/2005
Helpful Score: 2

Excellent for anyone who wants to learn the name of that thingamajig. It definitely doesn't hurt to sound intelligent when you walk into a hardware store. I loved this book because I'm the type to browse in a hardware store even if I don't need anything. Sometimes it helps to know what's out there to know what the possibilities are for a particular project. Perfect gift for that Home Depot employee.

Farmer's and Housekeeper's Cyclopaedia
Review Date: 12/29/2005
Helpful Score: 1

544 Pages. Originally published in 1888. This is a reprint published in 1977 with notes and updates. It's billed as a complete reference library for the farm. It's full of old ways, formulas and recipes. It's got very small type which is a turn off for me.

Everything from grafting apple trees to tanning hides is in here.
