OKAY, I am pretty lame! What got my attention was the cover and it reminded me of the reality show "Amish Mafia".

The book is as everyone says! Great story, suspensful but mostly educational about the Amish ways. I live in the West and have not a clue to the true Amish ways. This author is excellent at story telling and enlightening.

Can't wait for the second book.

I am not sure where the title "Of cabbages and Kings Remembering" came from but the book in my hand with this ISBN # is called "Bird in the Hand" by Luella Miler Dow.

"Trapped behind locked doors in Elbert Deeter's farmhouse, Callie McCaffrey languishes with faint hope of rescue. When Peter Meade, local reporter tries to free her, Deeter cruelly intervenes. At last Peter snatches Callie from her captor. But Deeter is not yet defeated. Callie must still battle for her life. An astonishing discovery and a harrowing struggle during a disastrous flood bring this story to an exciting conclusion."

This was and excellent story about a actual place on the Palouse in Whitman county, Washington. James S. Davis built a two story hotel on the summit of Steptoe Butte in 1888. He was noted for his love of entertaining.
