From the back cover: Everyday encounters--rich in frustration, investment, humor, opportunity and reward--offer a refining crucible for leadership. Although executive leadership is the domain of a select few, opportunities to lead at local levels are virtually endless regardless of title or position in life. With the heart of a parent and the probing questions of an executive coach, author Stosh D. Walsh shares 50 stories from everyday life, and offers practical insights to inspire growth in leaders everywhere.

From the author: I wrote this book for a very simple reason: most leadership books are written from the perspective of some well-known leader, about situations that normal people will almost never encounter. I wanted to convey that the kind of leadership it requires to be a CEO or a general in the military, or the manager of a professional sports team is rare, and since most people do not lead at that level, it makes sense to speak about leadership from the vantage point of everyday circumstances. Opportunities to lead are everywhere we look, and becoming a better leader necessitates only that we are intentional about those opportunities. The book contains anecdotes from a period of 3 years of everyday life in my family, and after each, I provide questions to invite readers to consider how they might improve their leadership, regardless of the milieu in which they practice.
