The book is well written, it keeps you engaged in the story, it's interesting, easy to read. I enjoyed the references to Venice's cultures, art & architectural treasures.

This is an amazingly historical book, well written, with very specific details about Jennie Jerome's life in New York, Paris and her involvement in the politics of the UK in the early part of XX Century. Charles Higham makes a linear description of life in Europe and the Middle East during Jennie's time. Her personal life as wife and mother is covered in detail, her extra-marital relationships just add spice to the story. I loved it.

A Venetian Affair covers the lifestyle of the Venetians during XVIII century. I discovered the title after having read what would have been book 2 of the story: Lucia a Venetian life in the age of Napoleon, which is also a delightful recount of the life of the docce,dukes, and other rich citizens of the Serene Republic up to Napoleon and his defeat. The author tells the story following letters that his father found in the Mocenigo palace in Venice in the XX century, in addition Robilant conducted his own research while living in Venice for a year.
