This book started out slow for me and was hard to get into, but around page 100 it really took off. I ended up absolutely loving the book!
One of the reviews on the back cover really hit on what I think is the strong point - highly developed characters. Chabon crafts them to the point they seem like people you've known all your life.

This collection of short stories is a nice change of pace from reading novels. I found all the stories thought-provoking, but still very quick to read. They're like tapas - delicious little treats.

I can already tell (finished this book yesterday) that Briar Rose is going to be a book that stays with me. Yolen tells such an amazing story - both heartbreaking and hopeful. Her story is unlike any retelling of Sleeping Beauty I've ever read. I highly recommend it.

Cute book and a quick, enjoyable read. There are recipes at the back for the cakes baked in the novel. What a fun little extra!

What a fun read! I had the best time with this book and even remarked to my husband that it would make a hilarious movie. Some parts are definitely British humor (and not that easy to understand), but it doesn't matter. The whole thing is wonderful.

Wow. I just finished this book and I can already tell it's one that I'll never forget. Yes, it can be slow reading at times due to its introspective nature. However, I think it's a powerful and enriching story.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The premise and style is fresh, which added to the experience of reading it. I think the author's experience as an artist added to the richness of the story. The sections dealing with making the paper and artwork fascinated me.
Two thumbs up!
