England, circa 1816. Alexander "Ace" Endicott, Earl of Carde, after sowing his oats as a wild buck, decides to seek a bride who will beget him heirs. Suddenly he is miraculously engaged to three desperate females through no fault of his own. He actually runs away from London, escaping the three young women, as he decides to follow through with his deceased father's dying wish: find his long-lost half-sister. His search is detoured and leads him to Eleanor.........
This is a well-told romance; humorous, with likeable characters.

Setting is Regency England. "Gannon Finn was a brash Irish Lord on a tour of the Continent when he first met Christiane, proprietress of the most exclusive gambling hell in Paris. He fell for her the way only an ardent youngster could - and vowed to rescue her from her life of wicked vice. But worldly, sophisticated Christiane just laughed at him. Years, later, Christiane is the headmistress of a highly proper academy for young women when Gannon comes crashing back into her life, a redoubtable rake with his niece in tow........." Again, Hingston has non-typical characters in her love story. I just wish Hingston were a more prolific writer. I love all her stories.

This is the first Laura Lee Guhrke book I've read, and I loved it! Emma Dove is not your typical heroine; she's a thirty-year-old spinster, and a strait-laced one at that.
This book is the first in a series about "girl-bachelors."

I almost didn't finish listening to this audio version of AT FIRST SIGHT because, midway through the story, it seemed to get bogged down with far too many uninteresting details. I kept listening, however, and I'm so glad that I did. It's a wonderfully bittersweet story, and it has an unexpected ending which is very heart-throbbing. This story, by the way, is the sequel to TRUE BELIEVER which tells of how Jeremy and Lexie met and became engaged.

Story begins in England, 1815. Brand Hamilton, the illegitimate son of a duke, owns a chain of newspapers and has a promising future in politics. Lady Marion Dane has an unseen enemy stalking her, and it seems that Brand is the only one who can help her. Another great love story with lots if intrigue and mystery from one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Thornton.

Carla Kelly fans shouldn't be put off by the negative reviews of this story. It's a wonderful story and it just happens that the heroine, Julia Darling, is a Mormon. Kelly writes all the characters so wonderfully. In my opinion, the Bible scripture and the Book of Mormon scripture are just a minor sub-theme in this whole story; not overbearing or intimidating to me at all. And I'm not Mormon. I'm sure that I won't stop reading her stories because she now has an LDS publisher. Personally, though, I preferred her London Regency settings as opposed to Historical Western locales.

Second book in Doyle's "Brazen" triology. "Napoleon lusted for her fortune while Paris swooned at her feet. Adelaide de Chevenoy, claimant to the de Chevenoy fortune, captivated jaded Parisians with her fresh beauty and mysterious past. No one suspected that the newly returned heiress was really Lily D'Artiers Copeland, Adelaide's dazzling double, sent by the British government to retrieve a cache of priceless journals."
The hero in this story is Webb Dryden, another British spy, and he knew Lily from her childhood when she was a gangly youth following him around. She has turned into a beauty who touches his heart and haunts his dreams.......

I listened to the audio book version and loved it. Yes, there are lots of characters, and I had to pay close attention to the reader to sort them all out. I found myself liking the foul-mouthed Crystal and hoping she would make it and be able to find a way out of her horrible life just as her rowing coach, Barry Fairbrother, had done. I think Rowling's characters' development was well done; as you progress, you see their personalities take shape. I highly recommend this book.

"Cheryl Sawyer writes epic historical novels about strong characters who fall in love at a time when their world is changing."
This is a wonderful story about Sophia and Jacques who are destined for each other. She, an English widow whose husband was killed in the war, hates the French. He is a Frenchman fighting on the English side. Or is he spying for the French........
I will be looking for more of Sawyer's books to read. She is excellent.
